Awesome

First there was "Anarchy in The UK," then there was "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and now there is "Machine." Many of today's bands have questioned the album format. Most of it is downloaded on the internet anyway. People like me who are into The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, know that any release is just a signpost on the road of a fabulous legend. Karen O is the most famous person in music right now. She can almost compete with W. I. T. with magazine cover to music release ratio. Who cares? This seven minute sonic assault is a fun ride. Most people thought that they would explode after one EP, but the song "Machine" proves that this Williamsburg hype and pot smoke must not be taken lightly. I don't just like this music because I can sit in the L Cafe with Nick Zinner and be a snob. "Graveyard" is a truly great rock song too. I am a believer. Take a deep breath.

I LIKE EM!! THIS BANDS GOT SPUNK! GO KAREN O!!!

I'd like to appologize for knocking the group The Kills on my last review I wrote about the Yeah,Yeah,Yeahs,and their Yeah,Yeah,Yeah EP,so just consider that a type-O,or something.Because their actually a really good band.As a matter of fact,if you love this band,you should also really like The Kills.I don't appologize however,for knocking the other band's.In my opinion they're as generic,and lame as the day is long.Now this band on the other hand is totally amazing,just because of the fact you can't really pigeon hole them as any particular sound.Unlike the White Stripes that sound like the 80's,and that Oingo Boingo,Duran Duran,stuff that I personally can't stand!Or Green Day,and the Clash sounding nightmare,in which has many kiddie follower's,band wise,and otherwise.Yet with the Yeah,Yeah,Yeahs,you can just take them for what you hear them as.If you like Punk Rock,there's a bit of that sound in there.Although I thank my lucky star's a small amount,because if it sounded any more punk I would of had to break this album.Only because I hate Punk Rock!Now that's just my personal opinion,and I'm entitled that,but my point is,this band is kind of like a swiss army knife,which means you can take it for whatever sound you want,and say to yourself,yep,that's why I like this band.Personally I can't see how someone could dislike this band.They've got a great singer,to say the least,a super creative song structure,spunk,energy,attitude without being to harsh,but tough enough to not be considered bubble gum rock.

Now to me that is an amazing style,that's totally hard to maintain,and is also totally mixed.I personally like them for their kind of loungy yet hyper sound.And coupled also with Karens energetic,carefree vocal stylings.It's almost as if she could sing no wrong.The way she manages to sing those off the wall leric's,that only she can pull off.If I'd of heard some typical raspy throated Punk Rocker girl,sing her stuff.It would of came across as way harsher than I'd of liked.Plus it would of sounded terrible to me.The only downside to this album,and all their album's in general,is,it's much easier for a girl to listen to this stuff then a guy.And I should know,because I'm a guy,and she sing's about men a little to much.Like the song MAN on the Fever to Tell album,now by myself,when I'm listening in my room or something it's great to know she likes guy's,heck that's one of the reasons I like her as a singer,but I don't like to hear about men,I like to hear about women.Because I can identify with liking women.So if they could just leave some of that stuff out a bit,that would be great.And the other complaint,I don't really have,but I hear alot,is that the back ground music's to simplistic.Oh Jeez,I listen to plenty of really technical sounding band's,and most of thoughs are quite over rated anyways,like Dream theater,and Symphony X,and my thought is,heck that's why this music even work's in the first place.Why?you ask,because it's simple.It's their hole style in general,it's not that this group can't play that good,it's just that the style that they're playing demand's a restraint on talent.It's to let the vocals shine through a lot more than the music,and force you to pay more attention to the leric's.Which in my opininion couldn't be better.So buy this album,it may be only a single,but I just can't seem to give this band enough praise...

Three songs otherwise unavailable on whatever else is out by them (which is just the EP really). So if you like the YYYs you'll like this. Machine is cool, Graveyard is awesome, and the Pin remix is cool, but not outstanding. Too bad this isn't a bit less expensive.

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are amazing, but aside from an unexpected "Pin (Remix)", these songs are among the band's worst.

I can't say I LOVE the Yeah Yeah Yeah's, but they're better than anything I've heard in a long time. I loved Karen O's voice: part sarcastic Kathleen Hanna shriek and part Mark Arm raw sexuality. Machine has a sort of choppy melody that I really liked. I have to agree with other reviewers that Graveyard was somewhat sloppy and generic, but I have a feeling that had to do with lousy production. Pin was like painfully bad No Wave. I'll forgive that those songs missed their mark, because I like their spirit (god, I sound like an old lady). Anyway, ciao.
