One of Whitney's best

Whitney Houston's "My Love Is Your Love" was a massive single worldwide, a dance floor stomper in the summer of 1999 that became a radio anthem for New Years 2000.

All of the mixes on the single and the original version are great in their own right. The Jonathan Peters' mix is the best known: this is the best produced, most far-reaching and commercially successful mix he's ever released by a long shot. It's a full 13 minute club anthem with dub parts, Whitney's full vocals, drop-outs, and synths. It's very Euro, hi-NRG sounding at 137 BPM. This mix was so successful that the edited version is what later became a radio hit worldwide.

The Thunderpuss mix is also excellent - not as good as their mix of "It's Not Right But It's Okay", but still very good. Wyclef's mix and the original version are superb R&B mixes that got lots of airplay too.

This song was remarkable in its crossover success: #1 on the Dance/Club Chart (Aug '99), #2 on the R&B chart, and #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 (Dec '99). The single went platinum in the U.S., and in fact, was one of the last singles ever to do so. MLIYL was also a chart topper in several countries in Asia and Europe.

When I think of Whitney Houston's "My Love Is Your Love" it makes me wonder what has happened to U.S. radio, the commercial single, and Whitney herself in just 4 short years?

Whitney meets clubland again

Thunderpuss 2000 takes Whitney's bland "My Love Is Your Love" and turns it into a club-stomper the same way they did with her "It's Not Right But It's Okay". Lots of strong diva vocals take away the ridiculousness of the lyrics, and bring you into a frenzy of body movements. The sample of Raze's "Break For Love" is wonderful. It's too bad that the other mixes are not as powerful. The Jonathan Peters remixes are ok, but nothing stupendous. The Wyclef mix is good if you are a fan of R&B/Pop and the Salaam remix is an interesting mix which deserves some listening. The new remix of "It's Not Right But It's Okay" is alright as well, a little bit slow, but not bad. The Thunderpuss remixes are what make this disc worthwhile. Let's hope that those Thunderpuss boys take on a Deborah Cox track soon!

Whitney, thank you for your love

This is the third straight maxi single from Whitney's "My Love Is Your Love" album that was top notch. The Wyclef mix is awesome, it allows Whitney the change to cut loose and sing, and no one does it better. The Thunderpuss 2000 is good. And yes, the Johnathan Peter's remixes of My Love Is Your Love are all great, this is the one everyone heard on the radio during the summer of 2000. I give Arista credit for doing a great job. Everyone go out and buy this single.
