Reviews:
Not his best, but still great!
Poodle Hat was released in 2003. This is Weird Al's 11th album (after Running with Scissors, Bad Hair Day, Alapalooza, Off the Deep End, Even Worse, UHF, Polka Party, Dare to be Stupid, In 3-D and Weird Al Yankovic). The following songs are on this disc:
Couch Potato (Parody)
Hardware Store
Trash Day (Parody)
Party at the Leper Colony
Angry White Boy Polka
Wanna Be Ur Lover
A Complicated Song (Parody)
Why Does this Always Happen to me?
Ode to a Superhero (Parody)
Bob
Ebay (Parody)
Genius in France
Couch Potato is a parody on Lose Yourself by Eminem. It's about a TV lover. It's OK for a starting song. Not bad...
I'd rate this song 8/10.
Wow...Weird Al can really talk FAST! In Hardware Store, people in his town are bored. When he learns about a new hardware store opening, he gets all energetic. Weird Al talks very fast for 30 seconds at one point in this song. Great song!
I'd rate this song 9/10
Trash Day is the parody of Hot in Herre by Nelly. This is about a guy who doesn't want to take out the trash. This was good, even though I didn't hear the original.
I'd rate this song 8/10
Party at the Leper Colony is a song I don't really get. It's about a guy who goes to a party at the leper colony. He describes what happens at one. Didn't really catch my attention.
I'd rate this song 6/10
Angry White Boy Polka, other than Genius in France, is probably the best song on this disc. It's a polka, so get ready to hear songs like "Get Free", "Renegades of Funk" and "The Real Slim Shady".
I'd rate this song 9.5/10. Obviously one of his best polkas.
Looking for strange love lines? Wanna Be Ur Lover is full of these lines. One is "I hope I'm not being forward, but do you mind if I chew on your butt?" Strange...
I'd rate this song 6/10
A Complicated Song is a parody of Complicated by Avril Lavine. I didn't like the original, but this song is very good!
I'd rate this song 8.5/10
Why Does this Always Happen to Me is about this guy who has bad luck all the time. For example, a newsflash about an earthquake happens when he is recording The Simpsons.
I'd rate this song 7/10
Ode to a Superhero is perhaps, the best parody on this disc. It is the parody of Piano Man by Billy Joel. This tells about the first Spiderman movie.
I'd rate this song 9/10
Bob, is simply, a homage to Bob Dylan. This song is full of palindromes. If you have a Palindrome Contest, you will win it if you listen to this! Still, a good song!
I'd rate this song 8.5/10
Ebay is the last parody on this disc. The parody of I want it That Way by the Backstreet Boys. About someone who loves using Ebay and uses it 24/7.
I'd rate this song 8/10
Meet the second longest song Weird Al created, Genius in France! No doubt, the best song on this album. This is about a guy who has no grain in his silo everywhere, but France! This is a tribute to Frank Zappa. Like I said, best song on the disc!
I'd give this 10/10

The C.D. I am reviewing is called Poodle Hat. The artist's name is Weird Al. It was released on May 20th; 2003.The price is fourteen dollars and ninety-nine cents. The label is Volcano. The number of copies is unknown. Weird Al is a well-known music artist. There is no previous c.d. because it is the first C.D. It works perfectly fine. My first initial impression was I thought it was going to be bad, but it turned it to be great. After I listen through it turned out to be good. I like the tracks "Ebay" and "Why does this Always Happen to me" because they are funny. There are no hidden tracks on the C.D. This C.D. is completely unique. I would give this C.D. an over all four-star and a half of a rating. Fans would be happy and not disappointed. I think it is something its way up and something to look out for. You don't get a special offer. There is some bad track like "White Boy Polka" and some other ones that I just I forgot. You should buy this C.D. because it is a funny sound track, but has some bad tracks. Don't buy it if you don't like funny C.D. sound tracks.
Rekindled Those Laughs
I've always liked "Weird Al" Yankovic, but only some of his albums have made me laugh out loud. To date I still think "Off the Deep End" is his best album (I still listen to it on cassette!), but Poodle Hat was a pleasant surprise.
The songs here are extremely original. "Hardware Store" is probably one of the most complex original songs he has ever written. Someone said they tried to sing along. Well, you can't. He uses a simple mixing technique (that Eminem himself uses on "Lose Yourself") that blends many different takes together. Whether the voice is sped up or not, I have no clue because speaking that fast *is* possible, and I wouldn't put it past Weird Al to be, well, weird like that.
Now I didn't think Weird Al could top "It's All About the Pentiums," but he did with "Trash Day"! This song had me laughing until my ribs hurt. The female voice is a delightful touch! (I figured he'd do it himself, but I'm glad he didn't!)
Party at the Leper Colony, Wanna B Ur Lover, and Genius in France are the weaker tracks that take some warming up to get used to. They start off slowly but have great finales or solos. Genius in France is just weird in general. As a French citizen myself, I found it particularly amusing. Any Frenchman who is insulted by this should move to Australia.
A Complicated Song is actually *better* than Avril Lavigne's own song, which cracks me up. E-Bay takes some getting used to for sure because, again, it's far superior to the real song, and I hate their stuff so much that this song is almost insulting to hear...you just have to get used to it. Fortunately, Al's lyrics are awesome! I mean, with eBay as a topic, you can write about most anything, and he chooses his "items for sale" wisely!
Why Does This Always Happen To Me is thematically a variation of You Don't Love Me Anymore.
Is there a bad song on this album? Yes. Angry White Boy Polka. Weird Al has yet to top his Polka Your Eyes Out.
Still, the last two albums of Weird Al have rekindled my affection for him. He is a very very important part of our modern rock history, and I regret having stopped listening to him for nearly a decade.
By the way, the video included on the CD is so funny, I was crying when it was over. For real! Weird Al is one of these people I wish I knew in real life. He must be a treat to know.
