Reviews:

Two splendid b-sides, a hit single, a video

Although I do not (literally) own this CD-single, I have gotten a hold of the two bonus tracks "Oh Lisa" and "Always" via downloads. Both those songs, especially "Always", which should`ve been on the green album, make this a more-than-worthwhile purchase for the diehard Weezer fan; and maybe even just your average fan as well. "Always" is probably the most melodic Weezer track in their history (it's similar to, but still more melodic than Pinkerton's epic: "Butterfly"). It's essentially one of my 20 favorite Weezer songs of all-time (it'd be at about #16). As for "Oh Lisa", it definitely fits in more with the green album's rock sound. There's no question it was made for the CD; only it didn't quite make the cut. Nevertheless it's still a great b-side, and, again, a must-have for the lollygagging fanatic. As I don't actually own this single, I don't actually `own' the video for "Island In The Sun" either. But I have seen it numerous times on MTV and know it to be a good video... as far as videos go nowadays. All in all; if you love Weezer, you need this release. Oddly enough, the title track here has no real influence on this single's eminence. If you only want that one song then just buy the green album instead. Finally, if you don't want to pay the money for this; and already own the full-length album, you at least need to download/locate the two b-sides that make this single impressive in the first place.
