A must have CD! Phenomenal!
This CD is a must have. Each and every songs has its own unique flare to it. She belts out each and every song so beautifully. The music fits her like a glove. She definitely knows how to make the music and song her own. Trust me. This young woman can sing! This cd along with her others are well worth every penny you spend on them. I bought 2 of Exodus and I own all of her Japanese CDS! I have waited so long for her to come back out with an English album! Thank you Utada!
dissapointing american debut, hikki loses touch
Let me start off by saying I am one of Hikki's biggest fans.
I love her voice and her range of vocals. She is one of the most talented artists in the world.
Yes this cd has several great tracks like "work out" and "easy breezy" However, that is it. The beats are different. They sound too "modern" If you were a fan of Hikki's Deep River or First Love albums, DO NOT buy this. I spent $30 on the Japanese release because I thought it would be great but burst in tears when I heard this album. No stretch of truth there. Her voice is still great, but the beats do not match with the songs. Don't believe the hype. Buy a used copy or download it. Don't waste your money no matter how much you love hikki. This album may make it in the US mainstream, however for the japanese fans, you may end up in tears too.
She has sold over 17 Million Albums in Japan and She's only!
I finally got this CD in the mail yesterday and I have to say I am definately pleased with Utadas American debut album. I was so mad when after like a week, none of the music stores around had the cd in stock...I wanted to go in and pick it up off of the shelves! I ended up buying it off of Amazon.com instead T_T. I have been listening to this cd since I got it constantly. There was maybe a 20 minute period where I wasn't listening to it and then I was just humming the lyrics to myself, lol. I will admit that I am not in love with all of the songs on this track but it is rare that you ever are. There are maybe 3 songs I think could be better with different background sounds..just listen and maybe you will understand..buy the album and maybe you will understand ^_^. The lyrics on this album are extremely catchy (I spell that right?) and I'm just going to list the top 5 on this album...
1. Kremlin Dusk (I love the inclusion of Edgar Allen Poe)
2. Exodus '04 (I downloaded a video clip of her singing this one and have been hooked ever since)
3. Devil Inside (there are a few versions of this song and it is in the top 10 on billboard for trance)
4. Hotel Lobby (this one has been stuck in my head all this morning)
5. The Workout (I have listened to this maybe 20 times already and I still love it)
