Reviews:

mechanical problems...

Not very impressive, the only really good song is the writer, the other ones are pretty forgettable. Do Yourself a favor and pick up some of their good stuff like Flying, force it, lights out, etc.

they've done better

The closing days of UFO's musical genius.

Let me say this, THIS band rocks and has been a big part of my life since listening to LIGHTS OUT back in about 77 0r 78.

I've listened to just about everything they done through-out the years, and have had and still do have a lot of pleasure doing so.

I remember seeing them back with Ozzy in the old Boston Garden as the opening act when this album came out.

As a big fan this is far from there best.

lets start with track by track.

1. Kicks ass sounds good to my ears, even has a taste of the old days mixed in there (i've always liked brass in rock n roll, gives it an extra punch)i give it an A

2. A cover of an oldies song, pretty cool but in my mind they didnt need to rework this number or any other for that matter.I'll give it a C

3. A big time ballad which UFO does beautifully as always.

Phil has a way of putting ballads across that i haven't found in

an other rock singer. An A in my book.

4.A cool rocker thats O.K. there for i'll give it a rateing of a C.

5.Same as the one above C.

6.Same as the one above C.

7. This song somehow makes me want to sing a long every time i hear it, there for i'll at lest throw it a B.

8. Another one of Phils great ballads always reminds me of my girlfrinds back in the teenage years / A, thats the rateing on this number.

9. Same as the above tracks # 4,5,6, another C

10. Yet another C on this CD.

11. Now this song sounds like it should've never even been recorded.

What a mess, never play this track if you want to show off some UFO.

So do you see what i mean folks, it's basically just filler tracks... to many C's.

UFO is a great band and there's a lot more to go buy then this.

But if you love the band the way i do, you'd own it.

LONG LIVE REAL ROCK n ROLL!!!

UFO still making high quality rock

There is no denying UFO was not the hard rocking force it was just a few years before this release, but Mechanix is still a terrific album. No doubt Mechanix is more commercial and on the lighter side of rock, so what! it still rocks and it's still TOP QUALITY music! The song "Doing It All For You" alone is worth the price of admission (has anyone heard the amazing live version on the hard-to-find Headstone CD?)

Let me put this straight: UFO ruled the world when Schenker was in, but UFO also produced some of the best rock albums when Paul Chapman was the axeman. Different styles... who cares?! UFO still made some of the best rock music back in 1982. Schenker was NOT UFO, just another very talented member, the man is one of the world's best guitarists but his compositions as a solo artist pale in comparison to the ones he made with UFO... Mechanix with Paul Chapman is much better than other releases from "classic bands" from that era, including MSG's solo albums, period. An absolute must, but only for real objective ears.
