Reviews:

A good one to pass on

By this time UFO was getting a little too dependent on the keyboards for my tastes. (On the next album they'd get even more dependent, but that's another review.) I always make my decisions about a particular album relative to how many songs I'd pull from it for a home made compilation. With "Making Contact" for the first time I'm sorry to say the answer is none. The disc has an unfortunate layer of hair spray that foreshadows the "hair band" inspired death throes of metal, and while I can't say it completely fails to hold up it's end of the UFO legend, I can't recommend it.

Makes Contact !

UFO has never had a bad album,& this one from the Chapman era is no exception. From the hard riffing of "Blinded by a Lie" &"Time to Rock " to the beautiful balladry of "You & Me" & "Call my Name".Lush keyboards from Neil Carter + Chapman's underrated guitar make this a great swan song to the Tonka Chapman era of UFO !

UFO could rock even after Schenker

I guess most of us agree that UFO without Michael Schenker is not the same, but when it comes to "Making contact" I can assure you that it's quality rock all the way from the opening "Blinded by a lie" to the closing "Everybody knows". I won't claim that this album is better than the classics from the 1970's but this time UFO sure come close to former heights. I strongly advise you to check out "Making contact" because it's much better than its reputation. With this one, you get melodic hard rock best served loud.
