Reviews:

Twenty years on

Dear God, please forgive me for the ways I've partied to this CD! Way, way back in another age I have memories of passed-out friends, dance floor head stands, busted chairs and UB40 blasting through the warm summer air. UB40 were absolute masters of the energetic slow song. I don't know how they did it. Many of these songs, if played by other bands, would drag like a plough. But UB40 gives them a lilt that keeps them bouncy. This is still the good UB40 when they were playing to politics instead of playing for Pounds.

Still, here is my recommendation: if you remember this music when it was live then you should own this CD. It holds up pretty well. Quality of transfer is acceptable and the songs are good. If you're younger and you like reggae or dub then I think you'll find this music fresh because no one is doing this slow, powerful, bouncy music now.

Very relaxed music

Imagine yourself laying on a big couch on a warm (not hot) summerday in a cottage with the windows open and the wind comming throug, pushing away the curtains... smoking a joint and just relaxing and enjoying life.. that kinda music is on this LP. Chill tempo, reverb all over the place and no vocals...

THE Best UB-40 Album Ever!

I first discovered UB-40 in 1981 well before they reached their fame. This album is by far their best effort ever, done before they became "educated" in music and started all of their cover versions of other peoples songs. I remember introducing the music of UB-40 to many, many people, and to this day, this album ranks among the top 10 of all time for all of us that came from the early 80's cutting edge generation of music!
