INTRODUCING The Tall Talented Tempting Temptations
If you love the Temptations, I reccomend this cd. This album is great. The late Paul Williams lead most of the songs because he was the original lead singer when they were the Primes. Pauls fantastic baritone was awesome. He sang with so much emotion and soul. I never understood why the masses never caught on to thier earlier singles such as "Paradise", "I Want A Love I Could See", "Dream Come True" & "Check Yourself". I noticed they added "Oh Mother Of Mines" & "Romance Without Finance" which was the very first single. This CD is missing "I Couldn't Cry If I Wanted To" & "Tearstained Letter" which was recorded in 1962 but released later. When u get this CD you will really appreciate this. I strongly recommend it. Thanks to Motown for rereleasing this on CD.
I Give The Temptations 5 Stars
Once again the Temptations have amazed me. This 14 track (2 bonus) CD is very good. It has most of the songs that they recorded before they became known as one of the best R&B groups of all time. The only hit song on this album is 'The Way You Do The Things You Do. In my opinion, though, 9 out of the 14 tracks should have been hits.
I want to comment on how David Ruffin was only with The Temptations on one track on this CD (Which was 'The Way You Do The Things You Do'.) The rest of the 13 tracks were with Elbridge Bryant with them. He is not mentioned on the front or back cover. Only on one picture (On the inside of the jewel case), is Elbridge Bryant shown with fellow members of the Temptations Paul WIlliams, Otis Williams, Melvin Franklin and Eddie Kendricks. It is a nice photo, and a good good collectors item as well.
I Want to comment on Paul Williams. I think he sings like he gives his best on tracks such as 'I Want A Love I Can See, Just Let Me Know, Your Wonderful Love, The Further You Look, The Less You See, Check Yourself, Slow Down Heart, Farewell My Love', and the 2 bonus tracks, 'Oh Mother Of Mine and Romance Without Finance. The rest of the songs on this CD are sang lead by Eddie Kendricks.
About the CD, I think it's a five star. I like everything about it, except for that it's recorded on straight mono, not stereo. I would recommend this CD to anyone.
PARADISE
Ok, let's face it, there isn't much more that can be said about these men. It really doesn't matter if your speaking of the Original group or the Classic Tempts. No five man group equals, yet. I brought this cd because of the music played in the T.V. movie. I fell in love with 'Paradise' and 'I Want A Love I Can See'. And the bonus tracks are great to have, this one is a treasue. You can hear the work put into their sound. I'm 41, and my 3 children range in ages of 14 to 20. They can't get enough of this. My 18 year old son is walking around singing and listening to the cd, daily. This is music. This is how you sing a love song. This is how you reward your senses after listing to most of what passes for music today. There is truely much to be said for class and style. I also want to commend the actors who brought this story to life. They too, are amazing singers. I now have a new favorite movie (yes, I'm late, I just purchased the movie last month) I had never seen it before.
