Description: Two comely teenage lesbian lovers from Russia who happen to sing? That seems more like marketing masterstroke than pop music likelihood, so it's fair to question the authenticity of t.A.T.u.'s English language debut. It's impossible to know where t.A.T.u.'s talent begins and ends and just how much influence their various handlers and producer Trevor Horn had over
200 Km/h in the Wrong Lane, but it's probably a moot point to the intended demographic. Horn's background working with electro-pop dandies Pet Shop Boys and Frankie Goes to Hollywood is evident in the crisp, driving synth cushioning singers Lena Katina and Julia Volkova's gossamer vocals. Wink-nudge lyrical references to girls loving girls--presented in serviceable if phonetic English--are in evidence, though they're more coy than graphic. "All the Things She Said," a sparkly, chorus-driven rave-up, seems to make the case for sexual equality, while "Show Me Love"--which appears in regular and extended versions--is a dance floor missive aimed straight at the clubs. Best, though, is an unintentionally ironic cover of the Smiths' "How Soon Is Now." The song, a benchmark of loneliness and hopelessness, is utterly transformed into a chirpy duet which, all things considered, may be the best gimmick of all!

Reviews:
One of my fave's!
When I first heard the song "All the Things She Said" on the radio, I was addicted at the age of 12. Now I am 15 and I finally got around to buying it recently. I also loved the song "Not Gonna Get Us", which was also popular and is also uncluded with this CD. The two songs I mentioned above are some of the best included, and a couple others I enjoyed were "Clowns" and "How Soon Is Now". I have to admit that "Malchik Gay" was a little weird, but it's wasn't as weird as some of the Disney songs kids are listening to now.
Julia and Lena (the members of t.A.T.u.) are from Russia and have the prettiest voices I have ever heard. I definitely think I spent my money well. Please don't let the fact that they are Lesbian, because their music is just as good as it would've been if they were straight.
This CD also has a music video of "All the Things She Said" included. Hope I could help!
Show Them Some Love!!!
T.A.T.u is a great duo band!Their voices are pure & sweet. But they're also powerful & bitter.T.A.T.u is a revoultionary band that was pressed as lesbian lovers to make them popular. If they are true lesbians we don't know but the fact was they were a marketing scheme that turned out to be so much more! This band is revoulutionary because they're not the normal mainstream pop.Instead the add the sounds of dance, techno,& rock to make they're songs wonderful.
The album is filled with dance tracks filled with heavy electric guitars. But without the singing it would not be complete.Julia & Lena's voices compine to make a sound know as unison. At one point they both sing, then one solo, then one solo while the other sings backround. As I said before their voices are incrediable! They hit the highest notes making it look easy!

The Uniqueness of t.A.T.u.
This album is addictive! t.A.T.u.'s music is very unique and different from other artists'. Their music is great to listen to if you're stressed or angry. Their voices are sweet and high-pitched and most of the time they scream. When they sing, they sound like they are currently feeling exactly what they are singing about. For example, in "Not Gonna Get Us," Lena and Julia really sound angry about how others turn down their relationship. In "Stars" when Lena sings and says "crying," she sounds like she's really doing so. I've listened to it mostly every day since I bought it in February of 2003. I like how some of their songs are loud and some are moderate or slow and soft. They sing about forbidden love-something a majority of people can relate to-and homosexuality. What's interesting about the lyrics of their songs is they can each be interpreted differently and leave you wondering a great deal about the true meaning. What I like most about their album is the Russian songs. I love to learn other languages and I think it's wonderful that you can be exposed to different music. And I know they're really not lesbians. I'm sure most can put themselves into the songs, regardless of their sexuality.
