A good place to begin.....

...In all of my years of buying and selling cd's, Talk Talk are one of the few bands from the 80's that always remained in my mind. At the time of each release I was happy beyond description. The band was always setting the bar higher than anyone else. However, time passes, new music comes in and encourages us to forget what used to be. But, there in the darkness seeps that sound that few musicians or bands can ever attain. That sound that is timeless, even if we can say that it is dated (due to the synths, and style).

In my new pursuit to regain that magical music that once said so much to me, I happened upon this collection and snagged it right away (at 11.99$, why not) and was instantly swept back into that time, that season, that period that time stood still for.

Sure, all that best are not accounted for, which makes it even better. This is a great place to wet you appetite for a time of wonder and awe inspiring thought.

Thanks, EMI, for finally doing something that is GOOD for a band that helped you label so much! It is about time!

Buyer beware: If you purchase this be prepared to shell out another fifty bucks or so, this will only make you want more.

Essential songs missing (again)

One of those examples where they purpously leave essential songs out and call it a "collection". Where is "Such a Shame" , their best song ? or "Today", "My Foolish Friend", "Living in Another World" etc. Screw all those B-sides.

Terrible distortion

There is wonderfully great material within, especially if you are reluctant to have plunked down the seriously over-inflated import prices for A Sides and Besides, etc. "Pictures of Bernadette, " the song which led me to purchase this CD, is woefully over-recorded to a point of terrible distortion. I don't know if the individual CD I got is an anomaly, but I was far from pleased to have been burned so.
