In my top 5 albums of the year!
The Sugababes rock. This album is definitely their best yet. I love their last "Angels With Dirty Faces", but this is way better. I love every single track on this.
This is the international version of the CD, and it has two less tracks then the UK version which I think is very unfair to the rest of the world. But the songs you do get on this version are brilliant.
The Sugababes (Heidi, Mutya and Keisha) stick to their usual style - which is a mix of pop, RnB and garage. They are seen as the rivals to pop girl group Atomic Kitten (which Heidi used to be a part of funnily enough), you can like the Sugababes if you're into garage or RnB. Rundown of the tracks:
1. Hole In The Head
This is the first single to be released from this CD. I didn't like it when I first heard it on the radio, it seemed bland to me. But when I heard it on the album, it suddenly became better. It's now one of my favourites from the album! It has very cool lyrics and a cool beat. 5/5
2. Whatever Makes You Happy
This song is cowritten by Keisha, and she sings lead vocals on this. This is very funky with a great singable chorus. I like this more and more each time I hear it. 5/5
3. Caught In A Moment
This is my second favourite on the album. This is a beautiful ballad, very moving. Heidi is on lead vocals and she sounds amazing. I love the lyrics too! 5,000/5
4. Situations Heavy
This is a very cool upbeat song, with great vocals and a very catchy chorus. 5/5
5. Million Different Ways
Another of my favourites. I love the chorus, and the part that goes 'to love me, to love you' and repeats it over and over again. The music at the end is cool too. 5/5
6. We Could Have It All
I love the lyrics in this! 'Me on you, you on me, smokin' till we both turn blue'. This has cool music and great vocals. 4.9/5
7. Conversations Over
This is weird. It has beat heavy chorus with loads of attitude, then the chorus changes it and it's all light and floaty. But it's still good. 4/5
8. In The Middle
This song kind of annoys me. The chorus is very cheesy, but it has cool vocals. 3/5
9. Too Lost In You
This is the girls' next single, but I don't like it. There are much better ballads on the album then this (like Caught In A Moment or Sometimes). But this does get better once you get to the chorus. 3/5
10. Nasty Ghetto
This is an average song. It's catchy but bland. 3/5
11. Sometimes
MY FAVOURITE! They should release this instead of "Too Lost In You". Heidi is again on main vocals and she sounds AMAZING! The chorus is very strong, and I love the piano it is sooo amazing! Definitely the best track on the album. 5,000,000/5
12. Maya
This song is sung entirely by Mutya, and it's a touching track dedicated to her friend. 4/5
Top 5 songs:
1. Sometimes
2. Caught In A Moment
3. Million Different Ways
4. Hole In The Head
5. Situation's Heavy
Overall, a strong CD that definitely surpasses their last release. Buy this now!
(My top five albums are Blue's Guilty, Atomic Kittens' Ladies Night, Mis-Teeq's Eye Candy, Liberty X's Being Somebody and this CD)
Remarkable
The sugababes are a remarkable band, reminiscent of TLC, except these girls were very young when they started out and listening to them from album to album you can hear them mature vocally as well as the subject matter has grown more commercial. I think the first album showcased something promising and precocious. This album is good but I think the girls have sold-out and are just like any other group, with the exception that each babe is uniquely talented and their voices work so well together...I really liked the original line up with Siobhan Donaghy, but Heidi is great too, my favorite babe voice is Mutya it is kinda raspy and the best showcase of here voice is on Caught in a moment my favorite song off the album. This album is good but the most personal song on the album is Maya which is a somber ballad, from one half of Frou Frou, I really love this record cos it just captures your imagination, when I first got it I couldn't stop listening to it...it is an over all fun pop/r&b album mostly pop though...though this album isn't as good as it's predecessors it is definitely interesting almost as interesting as the antics of the babes behind the scenes it brings the same fun exciting dramatic intensity of the girls attitude...
sugababes prove they've got what it takes 2 b successful
The sassy girl group with a bunch of attitude is back again, after the great album "angels with dirty faces", keisha, mutya, and heidi return. the sugababes new third album, called "three" is an overall great pop cd, but not pop in the sense of others in the bubblegum image, they make it cool to listen to pop in a way. It's r and b, with elements of rock, pop, hip hop, a lil biy of everything. The 3 young ladies score big, with the catchy #1 single "Hole in the Head", about a cheating man. Highlights on the album are the incredible somewhat poetic love ballad "too lost in you", the song "a million different ways" which features a sitar in the backround is a great dance track, the ballads of heart break, "Caught in a moment" and the incredible "Sometimes" where Heidi shines, as well as the dance track "nasty ghetto" produced by popular producer, Linda Perry. The Sugababes fall a little short on some songs, like "we could have it all" and the corny "In the Middle" lacking the "coolness" and attitude of other songs, but this is definetly one of the best pop cd's out. The sugababes are tha best british band out there, and America is missing out on these great ladies.
The Best So Far!
I live in Canada where, unfortunatley, there is not much of a following for the Sugababes. That's a shame because the Sugababes are excellent! I have been following them since their first album, but "Three" far surpasses anything they have ever done before! The girls have matured so much and "Three" demonstrates their strong vocals and touching lyrics. If you can get your hands on this album do not pass up the opportunity to buy it!
1)Hole in the Head - Really catchy single. A really funky dance song.
2)Whatever Makes You Happy - For me this song is just okay really, but a lot of other 'babes fans love it.
3)Caught in a Moment - Beautiful song. One of my favourites on the album.
4)Situation's Heavy - Good song. It has great lyrics, a catchy chorus and an awesome beat.
5)Million Different Ways - I love this song. It has an Indian vibe to it and it is really unique.
6)We Could Have it All - Another great track. Kind of mellow, but still funky.
7)Conversation's Over - This song is one of the slower ones on the album. It is really fantastic. The lyrics are probably the best on the album.
8)In the Middle - I think this song is a little immature for this album. It would have been better suited on "Angels With Dirty Faces".
9)Too Lost In You - This song is so beautiful. The girls sound so raw and pure on this song. It was written by Diane Warren who is known for her great love songs. I could listen to it over and over again.
10)Nasty Ghetto - This song will have you dancing all over the place! Wicked beat.
11)Sometimes - Another great ballad from the 'babes. I really like the chorus on this one. It also a great showcase for their songwriting.
12)Maya - Amazing. Sad, but amazing.
The Sugababes are a really talented group and it is too bad they don't have more support in North America. It is hard to compare them to any other act because they are so unique. If you like different pop, especially Brit pop, you should really check them out, and "Three" is definetly their best album.
