Reviews:

A great single -- should be a success in the USA!!!

I really like the Sugababes' "Round Round" single. The remixes are really cool -- especially the Soulwax Remix. The album version is good too. The other remixes are excellent! It'd be really neat if the Sugababes can have success in the States -- 'cos they make really good music! While I gave this single 5 stars, one thing I wish that was on it was the "Round Round" video...but, other than that, it is a great single. You won't be dissapointed.

just buy it already

... Yes, this is a girl group. And, yes, this is pop. But my, oh my, is this good. A definite "girl power" song but way more laid back and the music just kicks. The soulwax mix is worth the price of admission alone. The mix is around the same length of the radio edit (track four is the longest - right around 5 minutes give or take), but has a serious driving bass/keyboard line that forces you to shake your hips and sing along. It has a slight eighties feel to it but is unquestionably contemporary. This mix also does NOT have the bit in the song where it slows down for a moment and one of the babes sings "Does it hurt when you see how I've done....". All other mixes do and the only good part about that slowed down bit is the fact that the song eventually kicks back in. It is brief and I can overlook it in sight of a wonderful pop number. "I don't need no man get my kicks for free" And THANK YOU babes for paying your own way. Sure is refreshing....Oh, mix 2 sounds kinda like "I feel love" (ROCKS!) and the forth mix is kinda two-step and has some dude rapping (FYI).

This is just bliss

Admittedly, I fell in love with this song because of the video. The grace of Keisha Buchanan and the mesmerizing eyes of Mutya Buena are simply fascinating. The trio of young women are elegant, exotic, calm and collected in the face of powerful (and of course circular) windstorm. Definitely a visual high.

This CD single gets its five stars for the Craigie and Crichton remix. The video they play at the bars is the excellent Rockamerica Mix, but this is very good too. If I counted right it's 127bpm. It has a "circular" rhythm similar to that of Dead or Alive's "You Spin Me 'Round" or Georgio Moroder's collaboration with Donna Summer "I Feel Love." Fans of those songs will really love this, too. Those who dug Animotion's "Obsession" will also want this record. In fact, the synth line in this mix is about one note away from being lifted right from "Obsession." Like a previous reviewer said, it does sound kind of 80's. The vocals don't show much power or range, but they are very sultry and fit the driving beat well.

The album mix and the soulwax mix are more mid-tempo. The soulwax has heavy bass and a heavy drum line. The album mix takes a complete break from any beat for a very slow, soulful section which reveals some impressive vocals. But at the same time, it ruins any dancefloor potential for this mix. The Seani B. mix is actually more soulful than the soulwax in my opinion, features a rapper named Zaguzaar, and would be the best mix to boom out of your speakers when cruising in your lowrider. I'm still going to be on the lookout for the video of the Rockamerica Mix.
