Reviews:

Alan Lancaster - we really miss you !

For the last couple of years it has been the same routine every time Status Quo release a new CD. Fans from all over the place come out and praise, that Quo are finally rocking like they used to. Every time I go and buy their latest release and every time I get disappointed. No change here - I really don't know, how Quo fans can compare an album like `Heavy Traffic' to one of those fantastic long players that the four original members Francis, Rick, Alan and John released during the seventies and late eighties. The album starts up sluggish with `Blues and Rhythm' which is at best `Status Quo Light'. `The Oriental' is almost embarrassing - the lyrics and the song are terrible ! And so it goes until the end of the CD. There is only one highlight : The title track `Heavy Traffic' which is one of the best songs that these guys have released since their album `Back to Back' - their last great album, even it had the awful `Margarita Time' on it. Ironically, the other track that would stand out is `Money Don't Matter Tonight' which is only available on the UK import. I recommend saving your money and buying any of their releases from 1972 to 1984 or the complilation `Whatever You Want - The Best of Status Quo'.

Back to Basics

Wow! Status Quo has done it again...only better!

Without a doubt, Status Quo is one of the most misunderstood, most maligned and least publicized (and heard of) bands in North America. But why? Given that they've been around longer than ANY other band in the world, have sold over 150 Million records, have had more songs in Europe's top 40 than any other artist and continue to tour extensively they must be doing something very very right! Heavy Traffic is a good example of this. This album is an example of how this band, one that could easily rest on it's laurels, taps into a hotbed of energy and combines it with infectuously singable melodies. If you know Quo and are jaded...try this, their latest outing. If you don't know Quo, try it and be impressed!

Excellent

I've been a Quo fan for as long as I can remember, growing up listening to them. This album is great - one of their best. The title track is good and along with Jam Side Down, Blues & Rhythm make great listening. Not a track on it I don't like!!

The sound is classic Quo. I'd recommend it to anyone considering a Quo album

QUOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Simply put. This is the best cd/album in years. That Quo has put out.I ought to know I've got all of Quo's albums. Also the best since the original line up.A very good rock and roll cd."All Stand Up" has become one of my favorite Quo tracks.

STATUS QUO DOES IT AGAIN!!!

Guaranteed to ROCK!!! These fellows can still play. Great new album from the opening song Blues and Rhythm to the closing Rhythm of Life. Rock and Roll personified. The new album shares a variety of different heavy tunes without jeopardizing the intergrity of their patented boogie beat. From song 1 through 13, a refreshing new album with great songs. No filler or duds here. Every song is a winner. I like them so much, I can't even pick a favorite. That's how super this album is. I only wished the running time could have been longer. Will never be able to get enough of these guys. One of my all time favorites bands up there with the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Bad Company, etc. I will never understand why they never became giants in the U. S. U. S. Rock and Roll fans have no idea what they've been missing. New album has my highest rating!!!!! Based on all the new albums coming out by former great artists like Petty, Mellencamp, etc., which fall drastically from their greatness, Heavy Traffic by Status Quo is one album that sounds as good and strong as if they recorded it in their younger years. The group sounds vocally refreshed and they have given us great new music that still rocks!!!
If you want a very pleasant surprise, pick this album up. You will not be disappointed. Can't wait for the next album.

this ain't Piledriver.....

OK, I got suckered into buying this based on some of the reviews. The usual "as good as the old stuff" crap. Plus the fact that i've been playing Piledriver quite a lot lately, I was willing to give it a chance. Well, I was duped. It's definitely a lot lighter weight and poppy.

If you're expecting another Hello, Quo, or Dog of 2 Head you will be disappointed as I was.

If you crave some awesome early boogie, pick up Cactus' live 2CD set.
