Description: It's been three years since
Laundry Service transformed Shakira into an international rock diva, and we're still waiting for the official follow-up. As she toils away on her next studio album (due later this year), the Colombian temptress has kept fans distracted with a
Washed and Dried special edition of her English-language breakthrough and a
Grandes Exitos collection of her Spanish hits. Now comes
Live & Off the Record, a lush CD/DVD package chronicling Shakira's 2003
Tour of the Mongoose. It's a must-have for Shakira fans and features her second live CD effort (following 2000's stellar
MTV Unplugged). The real treat, though, is the DVD, which was filmed at a tour stop in the Netherlands. Shakira tears through tracks such as "Si Te Vas," "Inevitable," "Rules," and "Ready For the Good Times" with equal parts sensuality and animalistic ferocity. Her stage presence is positively electric. The accompanying documentary is also a revelation, capturing Shakira at her most honest and vulnerable. Highlights include the singer's bout with tendonitis (brought on by belly-dancing), an early-morning mariachi serenade from her boyfriend on Valentine's Day, and a backstage visit from novelist Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Fans' appetites should be whetted--for a little while. --

Reviews:
Awesome!
Shakira has building a solid musical career through the past ten years. Singing in spanish, at first, and then in english, the power latin diva has created a lot of songs, lyrics and hits! On this one: "Live and Off The Record" (2004), Shakira put her best live in a deluxe package (with a CD and a DVD).
Recorded at the explosive Mongoose's Tour in France, the show present in the disc contain 15 great songs (a mix of spanish and english). The DVD bring the same and, even, a documentary about her, her family, career and history.
In it Shakira looks simple, innocent and ready for conquer anybody!
You don't regret, buy it!
MINDBLOWING
This DVD is by far one the best musical DVD's I've ever bought.
But I feel that what is so compelling to me is the reason she put this out. She wanted to give her fans a glimpse of the person she is and the life she leads. She does this amazingly well. The documentary was obviously my favorite part and that of which, I watched first. Then watching the concert, I believe my perception was entirely different than if I had viewed them in reverse order.
From watching this, I can now safely say that Shakira is an amazingly indescribable person and I am honored to have seen just a part of her life and hear her words as they are. I was so thrilled to her what she has to say about so many things, not just about her in particular, but the everything else. The DVD had me laughing as she is a funny girl, but also almost tearing up watching the physical abuse that she went through in that one segment(watch to find out). Oh, and her drumming was great, I was surprised, and...coming from a drummer, she wasn't all too bad.
Shakira fans..you won't be disappointed...but are we ever?
Great DVD
This DVD offers a great live Shakira concert. Her perfomance is quite impressive, and her vocals are awesome. You just can appreciate how much she loves doing this. The documentary is pretty good too, you get a close look of how Shakira is in a "regular day" basis. It's really worth buying it, you'll be surprised.
The CD is fine, just the compilation of the songs you heard on the DVD. They didn't include 'Inevitable', but it's a fun CD to listen to.
By the way, what's the deal with trashing Shakira for her blonde hair and her English songs. She's a great artist even if she has green or blue hair....I know 'She sounds better in Spanish', but she sounds great in English too. I think she has the right to take her music anywhere she pleases to, and if that implies singing in English or dying her hair, well too bad for people who don't welcome changes.
