Description: As these two boys from Brisbane, Australia, know, it doesn't hurt to be endorsed by Rosie O'Donnell. When the Queen of Nice sang the words to "I Want You" and the praises of the duo behind it, the song catapulted up the charts. Largely ignored by the serious music press, Savage Garden have cultivated a vast fan base on the strength of their music--and airplay--alone. As formulaic as it may appear, the ballad "Truly Madly Deeply" was lodged at No. 1 for week after week for a reason--it's damn catchy and a welcome reprieve from overdone rock ballads. Lead singer Darren Hayes lends the same yearning vocal style to the third--and best--single from the album, "To the Moon & Back," a slice of synth-pop genius that culminates in a dramatic crescendo of strings, courtesy of coleader Daniel Jones. --Rebecca Wallwork

Reviews:

Fantastic

Savage Garden is easily the best electropop grounp in history.

This album is on top of my favourite albums of all time. It is the debut album that put SG on top of the charts from the UK to the US to Asia and Australia. Every song on this CD is a masterpeice.

Their second album (Affirmation) is good, but no where near as good as this. From the slick, cool "To The Moon And Back", to the hard rock "Break Me, Shake Me" to the ridiculous "All Around Me", every song is unique and fantastic.

This is a fairly old CD, I've only just dug it up and started listening to it again. My attitude towards the songs has changed a bit from when I first heard it in 1996. My favourite song back then was "Tears Of Pearls" but now I can't stop listening to "A Thousand Words".

Overall, this album easily recieves a 5 star rating. For you that have it, listen to "A Thousand Words", suddenly it now sounds really cool. If you haven't got this album, wheather you are a SG person or not, buy it now - and don't argue =)

Little known fact: Darren Hayes was a Kindergarden teacher before joining SG.

I knew I loved you before I knew you Darren!!!

I love Savage Garden it has always been my fav Cd in my collection an still is. Darren Hayes is so hot an so is his music! Its so romantic an dreamy it will have you replying every song over an over an over an over an over an....

So do something you wont regret an buy this cd!!!!
