The best tracks are:
Secret Land
We'll Be Together
Heaven Can Wait
Around My Heart
You Celebrate Your Life
But back to this Album from 1988. IT'S SIMPLY GREAT. In the Vocal Sense, Sandra is weaker than Madonna, BUT in the Quality of Songs/Songwriting and Arrangements she is Sooooooo Much Better. This album Does not have a Single Bad Song. You can Listen to it from First to Last track, and Fully Enjoy Everything in Between.
All Songs on this album are Very Catchy, and the Album was Produced by Michael Cretu, the Creator of Enigma, and also Sandra's husband.
Songs here Truly Take you into a Magical "Secret Land", and make you forget all your problems. Especially a song like "Vista De Luna" that puts me right on the Tropical Paradise Beach. It's similar to Madonna's "La Isla Bonita".
Most songs here are Dance oriented with rich Synthesizers, But there are two Very Beautiful Slower Ballads: "Just Like Diamonds" and "Children of England", and Both are GREAT.
BTW The Chorus on "We'll Be Together" Sends Shivers down my spine every time I listen to it.
Bottom Line is: This is an AMAZING Album, where all Songs are Potential hits, and you will probably Grow to LOVE them and will listen to them (and maybe even sing) a lot.
Make Sure to Check out Sandra's Other Albums, she has about 10.
Thank You
Which is what this album is really. Pure pop. Not trite, but not challenging on the ear, just a pleasurable indulgence. Not as complex and intelligent but certainly more engaging than her 90s work, This is her best 80s album behind 'The Long Play' (Mirrors was just horrible.)
With Sandra's distinctive, slightly unusual voice, and lush, lustful Cretu synth effects stamped all over the album, she does boast a distinctive sound. Apart from the title track, WONDERFUL song but it does sound alot like Pet Shop Boy's 'It's a Sin.' And I guess 'La Vista De Luna' sounds somewhat like Madonna's 'La Isla Bonita' and 'We'll Be Together' sounds like 'Open Your Heart' (this track by the way, is my favorite off the whole album I've never heard anything so uplifting and euphoric.) She WAS known as the European Madonna afterall.
Otherwise, 'Just Like Diamonds' is as beautiful as diamonds themselves, 'Heaven Can Wait' is sexy and epitomises the Mellow sound of European Disco at the time, 'Around In My Heart' and 'Crazy Juliet' are quirky and 'Celebrate Your Life' has a dark sounding verse and a wistfully catchy chorus combined with a strong lyrical message.
While not the best of Sandra albums 'Into A Secret Land' reamins consinstent in high quality from beginning to end.
