Reviews:

The old material is great, new material hit and miss

While the old songs from Beck Group and Faces are killer as always, the new Nile Rogers-produced stuff is problematic. This is a shame considering the covers had so much potential. Stevie Nicks's Stand Back has stale instrumentation and Ruby Tuesday is unlistenable. First I look at the Purse is done as a low-key finger-snapper and it works really well--he has to sing and can't hide behind mannerisms. Shotgun Wedding is the rocker, not his best, but not his worst. Waits' Tom Traubert's Blues is the highlight--better than Unplugged--great strings and he drags every ounce of passion out of the song. For collector's only.
