Reviews:

Cause everybody has a Poison Heart!

Mondo Bizarro, in my opinion, has to be the Ramones greatest later years album. Acid Eaters which would come out in 1994 wasn't bad, but it was all covers. What makes Mondo Bizarro so great is that the Ramones sound is revived. When Dee Dee left the band in 1989, fans were introduced to a bassist named CJ Ward. He would be known as CJ Ramone. The youth of this young bassist kind of changed the Ramones attitude from negative to positive. Along with an excellent producer, Ed Stasium and back to back solid tunes, of course Mondo Bizarro would be a great album. I love "Poison Heart" because it has a nice darkness to it, yet shows that the Ramones could still sound hard in the 90's. Other greats on this album were, "Take It As It Comes" (a Doors cover), "Main Man" and "Strength To Endure" (In which CJ sings both songs!) "I Won't Let It Happen" and "Tomorrow She Goes Away". I heard that Mondo Bizarro is currently in the process of being reissued. Look for this rare album to become much easier to obtain!

I just want to walk right out of this world.

This was the first Ramones album released after they left Sire Records, and also the first studio album recorded after Dee Dee quit the band. It's not a classic Ramones album by any means, but it does have it's moments. Even without Dee Dee in the band, he still contributed the best songs on the album; "Poison Heart", "Strength to Endure" and "Main Man". Joey wrote seven songs for the album, most of which are decent, but none of them are all that memorable. Marky Ramone also contributed his first two songs to this album, which are okay. There is one cover song on the album, which is the Doors' "Take It As It Comes", and it's actually one of the better songs on the album. While this isn't one of the Ramones' best albums, Ramones fans should enjoy it.

Still plenty of life in them...

Louder guitars than any other Ramones record (almost like arena-rock.) This is another prime example of how production was right on and not hollow with too many of the band's other releases. Angrier sound here... I think that's why I like this one so much.
