Reviews:

5 star music, 2 star selection

The 20th Century Masters collections are notorious for picking terrible selection of songs on them. For example, look at Motley Crue's. But this review is not about Motley Crue. it;s about the selection on the Rainbow album. While most of my personal favorites are included, where is 'Long Live Rock n Roll'? And someone PLEASE tell me what 'Rainbow Eyes', the worst song Rainbow ever recorded is doing on here? While 'Stargazer' and 'Man on The Silver Mountain' are included, where is 'All Night Long'? I gave this album 4 stars because the music is just too good to give anything lower, but with the omission of 'Rainbow eyes' and the inclusion of the two songs mentioned earlier, this album could easily become a 5 star album, at least.

A little too much emphasis on the Ronnie Dio era

Don't get me wrong, Rainbow was a great band. I have all their regular releases on tape and I got this because it was $2 (on CD). A fair collection of their songs, though it seems to focus on their more "popular" tunes instead of delving deeper into other album tracks. "Catch The Rainbow" and "Rainbow Eyes" are nearly interchangeable; "Power" is a filler song to my ears, and whoever made up the song list needs his/her head examined!! "All Night Long" NOT ON HERE??? A couple others from "Down To Earth" certainly would have helped. I agree with the statement that the Millenium series should have enough songs to come close to the 80 minute mark...c'mon for cripes sakes, give people their money's worth!!!

OK Collection

Given the choice of this or "The Very Best of Rainbow", you should definitely go with the latter. It is a better collection, with more cuts. I would also recommend "Final Vinyl".
