Just a bunch of pretty faces

Plain and simple: Phantom Planet is nothing more than a bunch of quasi-famous names thrown together. Their sound is faceless, anonymous pop-rock that accomplishes nothing. No innovation, no energy, no wit, no feeling, and no craftsmanship. It's void of pretty much everything.

There is one decent song: Recently Distressed. They actually throw a few surprises at you before going back to their painful middle-of-the-road performance. If Recently Distressed showed any signal of where Phantom Planet was headed, I might actually be interested.

But if their direction was based off of the other ten songs, I am not even remotely intrigued.

Redefining Awesome

... Phantom Planet is bringing back the true meaning of pop. This album is amazing. It is happy, upbeat and they rock it out hard. They are awesome on record and fourty times better live. Phantom Planet is an amazing band, both of their albums are amazing and if you do not have this cd, then buy it! Out with the crappy pop and in with the real pop.

Inspired by the Beatles and other classic bands, Phantom Planet makes this incredible album worth every cent. I urge you to buy this album, you won't regret it. The flowing, catchy songs will be stuck in your head all day.
