Reviews:

ME's not for you

This is strictly material for anyone authoring a biography of Peter Gabriel. It's an old interview from the early 80's, and not particularly enlightening even from a research point-of-view. No music of any kind on this disc... Just talking.

ME......?

Being a true Gabriel fan I enjoy hearing Peter's voice even if he's just reading the phone book, but I have some serious qualms about "Me" , mainly the deceptive packaging. The original release date is listed as '93 (and the picture on the cd is from the late 80's) , however, buyers should know that this interview is 20 years old. Gabriel has just released his 3rd solo album (fingernails) and is only 30 at the time this was recorded. There is no information included in the liner notes so one has no idea who the interviewer is,or what publication he's from. The recording quality is alright but the interview starts abruptly in the middle of a sentence and ends just as abruptly. The questions asked are not very well thought out and don't yield any particularly insightful answers from Gabriel. Most Gabriel fans will not learn anything new from this interview, but it is enjoyable just listening to his patient replies and hearing the incidental noises in the background (tea being poured, kids toys chiming , Jill on the phone in the background).

See the mind behind the music!

This CD is strictly an interview with Peter Gabriel, but you will find out what make the man behind the music keep going despite the tormented life he has led to date. This 40-minute dialogue will give those with a want for information a lot of what they wish to know. However, it would take one of these discs for every song he has ever written to fully appreciate what Peter Gabriel is all about.
