Description: Following their ascension from the Atlanta music scene in 1994, Outkast have spent the greater part of a decade creating innovative and challenging music that disproves the persistent rumor of hip-hop's imminent demise. That's because Andre 3000 and Big Boi are artists of the first order. Coming off a run of four critically acclaimed albums, plus a successful collaboration with their extended clan, the Dungeon Family, Big Boi and Dre present a collection of their greatest hits, which includes three previously unreleased tracks. Highlights among the older material include the original (non-album) version of their first-ever single, "Playa's Ball";
ATLiens' "Elevators"; the spoken-word dub-funk of
Aquemini's "Spottieottiedopalicious"; and "B.O.B", the song that caused
Stankonia to enter mainstream territory. The new songs are of the same high caliber and should be a good enough reason for die-hard fans to pick this CD up--there's no such thing as too much Outkast in your collection.

Reviews:
Great Album(even if it is edited)
When I first got this I was'nt sure if it was gonna be too great, even though Outkast is one of my favorite groups. I was wrong. There are some really great songs on this c.d., and I'm not finished listening to all of them yet. Some of the really good tracks are: The Whole World, So fresh, so clean, and Ain't no thang(I don't recommend playing this one near your parents, even if it is edited). I really recommend this c.d. for anyone who enjoys rap, and can't get the unedited version.
GREAT CD
THIS CD REMINDS ME OF 70'S FUNK STYLE MUSIC-I LOVE THE BEATS-I'M A 70'S MUSIC LOVER-ESPECIALLY OLD FUNK, FUNK MUSIC-BOOTSY, PARLIAMENT/FUNKADELIC,CAMEO-YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN-THESE GUYS WHILE NOT THE BEST RAPPERS I HAVE EVER HEARD HAVE A AMAZING KNACK FOR MAKING SOME JAMMIN MUSIC-
OH YES! FINNALLY DECENT MUSIC!
I have a few favorite artists, but on the best one is outkast. They had a mixture of old & new hits. These are my favorites song in my favorite order
1. The whole world
2. Rosa Parks
3. So fresh, So clean
4. Ain't no thang
5. Git up, Git out
6. B.O.B.
7. Ms. Jackson
8. Funkin' around
outkast never ceases to amaze me.
Yes I accidentally bought a clean cd. Don't ask. The point? Outkast doesn't need swears to distract the audience, like some other rappers* cough cough, ja rule * Rather, their beats and music are just superb. I've heard so many styles jam packed from over the years w/ them and what better way to do it then with this collection! I really love "Player's Ball"...their first hit. Some of the slower songs are kind of boring but the faster-paced ones really compensate... "B.O.B." wasn't what put them in mainstream terrirtory, even though it is still ag reat song. "Ms Jackson" however was the song that put them in mainstream territory, and also helped start the new pop hip hop trend. Who cant resist tappin their foot to the rodeo-inspired "Rosa Parks" or gettin down to the beats and lyrics of "So Fresh So Clean." In a world of depressing, cookie-cutter world of rap music that uses swears to coverup weak raps (Murder inc), Oukast really is a break from that. They're different, and always willing to stand out for the crowd, even if it does mean dying your hair white and wearing multi-colored velvet suits on stage. If you're a *real* hip hop fan then your collection will not be complete without "Big Boi and Dre Present...Outkast." A must own, an recieves an A+ rating from me.
the best outkast cd eva!!
First of all, Outkast is really talented. Both Big Boi and Andre 3000 are OHSO good at rapping, singing, writing songs using their views in them (B.O.B, Rosa Parks...). However, this is (by far) my favorite Outkast cd. They had a lot of hits on that cd...I loved Intro, Funkin' Around, Ain't No Thang, So fresh so clean, Rosa Parks, The Whole World, Aquemini, B.O.B, and Ms. Jackson. This cd has SUCH great songs on it and I REALLY recommend buying it.
The Greatest Hits before The Love Below/Speakerboxx
"Greatest Hits" from Outkast includes all of the best songs from the Atlanta boys, spanning from 1994 to 2001. In those seven years, the boys released a lot of hit songs that have thwated the rumors that hip hop music was in a decline. This is a good album to pick up for the hits.
If you want their most successful singles and hits, this is the album to pick up. Everything from "Players Ball" to "The Whole World", their newest single (at the time), is included. The songs are not in chronological order, so it's hard to track the evolution of this wonderful hip-hop duo, but you can definitely tell them trying new, challening things in their evolution from "Players Ball" to "The Whole World". It goes from raw to progressive, but the rhymes and rhythm never flounder.
Some of the biggest hits and most well known songs that are included are "Ms. Jackson", "Rosa Parks", "So Fresh and So Clean", "B.O.B.", and the two songs mentioned above. There are other great songs included, but unfortunately album tracks and lesser-known singles were not included. As great (and some might argue better) as these songs are, the material included on the album and the title ("Greatest Hits") help it avoid any deduction of points.
Another refreshing thing about this album is how Dre and Big Boi are on the same page. That seems to disappear on "Love Below/Speakerboxx". I feel that they are stronger when they are on the same page. Also this album lacks the glossy, over the top feel that their newest album has. I feel that "Greatest Hits" shows Outkast evolving to their prime, "Love Below/Speakerboxx" with them on top, and now their slow descent. Hopefully I'm wrong, because I love their music, and think hip-hop could benefit from their influence. But after listening to "Greatest Hits", you can't help but think they could get better than this. Not even "Love Below/Speakerboxx" is on the same plateau. A hip-hop classic and a must to any diverse music collection.
