Description: If Nevermind's sound is familiar now, it's only because thousands of rock records that followed it were trying very hard to cop its style. It tears out of the speakers like a cannonball, from the punk-turbo-charged riff of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" onward, magnifying and distilling the wounded rage of 15 years of the rock underground into a single impassioned roar. Few albums have occupied the cultural consciousness like this one; of its 12 songs, roughly 10 are now standards. The record's historical weight can make it hard to hear now with fresh ears, but the monumental urgency of Kurt Cobain's screams is still shocking. --Douglas Wolk

Reviews:

Faboulous!!!

I think people who call "Nevermind" overrated, don`t really know what they`re talking about. This album is just faboulous, yeah, truly one of the best albums ever made. I loved the songs from the first time I heard them. Every single song is special, and wow: How brilliant! Most people know "Smells like Teen Spirit", an awesome song, which has become Nirvanas most popular. But I`ll tell ya something, this is not the only reason why you should buy this CD! There are many other songs on "Nevermind" I find just as good as that one. I think each one of them is a masterpiece. Most of the songs are rough, with fast rhytms, but still they`ve got so much melody. Kurt was a genius! I `can`t imagine any other person just as talented as him! He wrote songs, played the guitar, and he sang as a god. His voice was so powerful and strong. He sang with so much emotion, and it makes me think : Wow, is it really true? His friends, and bandmembers Krist and Dave also did a great job, making this band as popular as they have become. Krist really knows how to play bass, and Dave is a master on the drums. I will always remember Nirvana as the greatest stars in the history of rock! This is what I call real music! Come on, peeps, buy this album! You`ll like it!

Geniuses!!! Forget Alice in Chains Soundgarden and Pearl Jam

Instead of giving this 5 stars, I thought id give it 1 to make the 4 reviews 1 stars. WHY???!? Because Nirvana is # 1, forget poser grunge bands with no talent, Nirvana is just as good as the bands they influenced... Bush, Creed, Nickelback, etc.

Nirvana-nevermind a classic

Opinons people! to all people who hate grunge and blame nirvana on musical trends that have come along in last 10 years are idiots. It is the music industry is promoting them not Nirvana, Pearl jam or any grunge band. There are plenty of talent today but it is underground on indie labels not on mainstream making music suck today. Anyways, this album is great and landmark album much like Led Zepplein IV (hope i spell it write), Acdc's black in black. With songs like Smells like Teen Spirit, Come as yOu are, and lithium. My personal favourites here are Drain you, Territorial Pissings, and Polly. Check out Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, AIC (other great seattle bands) from this era as well.
