But for the other tracks: Slipping Away is cool. It has a funkier beat than the original. And the singing is perfected too. So is The Great Collapse. It was done during The Fragile sessions and must have been done around The Wretched recording. cuz it repeats, "now you know/this is what it feels like" many times. But this isn't bad. The next is The Wretched version done by Keith Hillebrandt. It was well done. Still funky and danceable. Then, later The Frail done by Beneli remixing. It's even better than the original. It starts the orchestra on disstortion, then goes and plays with more of a stronger, beautiful remix. For the Bjork fans. The next cool thing is Metal, a cover of a Gary Numan song. I actually never know the original sound so i can't compare them with NIN. But there's an awesome mix of synths, singing/screaming and the typical NIN stuff. it's highly addictive. the 10 Miles high version by Keith Hillebrandt is basically the same, replacing "tear it all down" to an even better song. And that's my personal favorite NIN song, the regular version. The one on WITT part 2 was almost the same as this one.
Overall, nice product. It includes mainly the artists of NIN outside Trent reznor (his are #1, 2, and 8). Danny Lohner does not too good on the Where is Everybody mix on any excitement of listening. But not really bad. Also, Charlie Clouser's SF inc, look up at the first paragraph to see comments.
Essential for a remix fan.
The early remix albums really aren't very interesting to me. The Head like a Hole single (basically PHT remixes) too closely resembled PHT, and Fixed really wasn't greap in my mind. Further Down the Spiral was a brilliant album, and in Reznor's tradition, so is this. My favorite tracks on the album are the Frail, which has been completely redone with strings; the Starfuckers remixes, especially the second one; Metal, by far the best track on here, a song which could easily be released as a single; and 10 Miles High, which is fairly similar to the WITT single version, but with some minor improvements.
All in all this album is a perfect compliment to the Fragile and the accompanying singles. If you liked the Fragile, you WILL like this...
