First Class Waste Of Money ( Rated -10 )

This isn't going to be a nice review about this CD. This CD is being sold as an SACD and although it is in that format, it is just PLAIN STUPID STEREO, so WATCH OUT !>

I bougth this CD because i remebered the voice of Marvin Gaye as being warm and full...so I gather...this SACD must be one great buy...well it isn't. The CD sounds just like a normal CD with added high tones, as if the EQ was tuned to boost high frequencies. The cd is not multichannel, something I think every SACD should be at least, but the worst thing is that it is FLAT in sound. The drums have absolutely no depth nor any body to them and sound processed according to Japanese style. The Japanase don't like fat drums, they like ienimienie-drums.
This record has definatly lost it's "Soul".

So if you still have an old record ( LP ) or such from Marvin, then do yourself a favor and play that instead of this. This really sucks and according to my review isn't worth the money you have to pay for it.

greatest album ever by Marvin

Listen to Midnight Love from beginning to end.It is one of the most innovative albums ever recorded. The first song, Midnight Lady, was before its time. I'm only 19 years old but ever since it came out I've played it more than any other album. Even more than the Makaveli album. END

The multichannel is real

Yes i can confirm this cd comes in multichannel because i own it.If your into the multichannel sacd's and you can find it you won't be dissapointed.This isn't my personal favorite marvin gaye album,I also own a dts greatest hits marvin album which i prefer over this album,But like i mentioned prior if your a marvin fan the multichannel sounds very good.

Wow!

A couple of years ago I got my first listen of the SACD format in a store. I thought it sounded great, but at the same time not all that of a jump in quality. However, after buying a SACD player to replace a CD player that blew up I wondered what would be my first SACD purchase. I got Midnight love because it is one of my favorite albums. Marvin Gaye was at the height of his genius when he made this album. Also, I always loved the many layers in each and every song. I still haven't heard an album since that has so many layers. I thought I knew these songs, backwards and forward. But, the SACD format taught me different. When I popped Midnight Love into the player I went nuts. I heard things that were only hinted at in the regular CD release. Each and every note was crystal clear. Music that was overwhelmed by the other layers suddenly came out to the forefront. It was like I was sitting in the studio while Marvin sang the songs. Man! My jaw dropped, and I marveled at the sound coming out of my speakers. It was like the first time I heard the album. If you have an SACD player, this is definitely an album that you have to buy. I hope that Sony comes out with more albums to support the format. It is great, and so is Marvin Gaye's Midnight Love.
