Always what you want!
This band continues to pound out thematic non apologetic metal. I saw them live in SF last year and it was the best show I've seen in a long time. Manowar creates an atmosphere of pride and comradery amongst true metal fans and agresion to the perpetrators of "false metal". This album takes a few risks and whether they pay off for you or not, the anthemic pieces will hook you because they only get better with each album. I can't wait for their next effort.
Fight, Fight!
This is Manowar's nineth studio album. It seems that almost everything that they have to give to metal has already been given. The songs "Call to Arms", "Hand of Doom", and "Fight Until We Die" at least sound same kind of songs like "Metal Warriors", "Return of the Warlord", "The Gods Made Heavy Metal" etc. The songs are mostly basic metal. "Nessun Dorma" and "An American Trilogy" sound so terrible songs...maybe they can raise the mind of some American war hero but for me it doesn't give anything else than old fashioned music. The songs "Valhalla" and "The March" are instrumental ones, so there's left only "The Fight for Freedom" and "Swords in the Wind" which are very good Manowar ballads. At least SitW belong to same serie as "Heart of Steel", "Master of the Wind", and "Courage". "Warriors of the World United" is a strong heavy metal piece. It has wonderful lyrics and attitude. Metal rules! "House of Death" is quite fast and heavy. Manowar can still make good songs but there's all the time less and less of them in the albums.
Stars: Swords in the Wind, The Fight for Freedom
What is this?
What is this? is that Manowar or something else.
I've been manowar fan for many many years and don't get me wrong -they're good talanted musicians, but this album got my nerves. I'm getting so tired to listen those stupid immature lyrics. they're better just to play instrumental music only, without any words. Their lyrics sound like a little kid has been trying to write some poem for kindergarden or elementary school. Just listen it careffuly: fight, fight fight for the world , fight for the king, kill who doesn't like the heavy metal etc etc etc. What a hell is wrong with them??? It is so stooopid.
Their first albums were good, and music is awesome, even in the "Louder than hell", but this album is a total joke plus primitive lyrics. I only suggest to buy this album if you have a Manowar cd collection (as I do), other than that, just pass it!
