Gates of Valhalla
Manowar's second album wasn't that successful as the first one "Battle Hymn" but it includes some very good metal songs. "Warlord" starts with a short story...then starts the great rock song. "Secret of Steel" is very supercilious. I understand they are proud of their metal music but there should keep some kind of limit. "Gloves of Metal" is a heavy metal song and it's great one. I like the lyrics "We Wear Leather We Wear Spikes We Rule the Night With..." It is about metal again. "Gates of Valhalla" is a power ballad. Eric Adams can sing very strongly, he is one of the best heavy metal vocalists in the world. "Hatred" is kinda dark song: "With Heart Filled Hatred Black Blood Runs Through My Veins..." The riff is a little bit depressing. The last two songs "Revelation" and "March for Revenge" are fast tempo songs. Again songs about heavy metal...it's great but I hope they had also somethin' else to say too. There's not so much bands that sing about their music and fans.

Manowar
Well, well. What I can say, manowar is actually good metal band, and some composition are really awesome, but lyrics... I'm just getting tired of these lyrics- fight, fight, fight for the metal, fight to be a kings of metal etc. this is sooo immature. It's like a little kid - I want to be a king. Don't get me wrong though, songs like Courage are absolutely amazing. I think these guys need to find a good lyric writer. I gave them 4 starts just because of some crappy lyrics. I hope that in the future Manowar will change that "fighting" crap out and more good songs will be written.
The metal of my childhood
The first album I ever bought was Kiss Alive when I was in 6th grade and I think this Manowar album was the second one. I still think its a great metal album although a bit hokey (especially the cover). The production value could be better obviously but there's a great metal spirit in most of the songs and I still listen to this one once in awhile.
The biggest influence this album had on me was that I began saying Death to False Metal, Into Glory Ride! all the time.
Its written on the album somewhere.
The bottom line is that it isn't as good as Iron Maiden but Manowar is a great epic metal band in their own right.
