Description: Just when you thought heavy metal had either died or mutated into dissonant alternative music, along comes Manowar to prove once again that straight-ahead guitar crunch, powerhouse drumming, and histrionic vocal yowls can be far more potent than the latest Nirvana clone band--and far more amusing. On Louder Than Hell, Manowar guard the heavy metal torch with unintentionally hilarious lines like, "The Gods made heavy metal and they saw that it was good/They said to play it louder than hell, we promised that we would." This never-say-die spirit, along with muscular, audacious riffs, razor-sharp hooks, and strong, simple songwriting keeps Manowar's flame burning, even when they resort to violin-laden power ballads like "Courage." --Jon Wiederhorn

Reviews:

Heavy Metal Power!!!

Manowar had had a long break between the studio albums...there had been about four years. "The Triumph of Steel" was little bit disappointing and this album isn't much better. It stast very well "Return of the Warlord", "Brother of Metal", "The Gods Made Heavy Metal", and the classic "Courage" ("the part 2 of heart of Steel")...and there's great songs like "King", the very fast ones "Outlaw" and "The Power". Unfortunately there's three songs that make this album a little bit poor..."Number 1" is the song with the riffs we have heard thousand times...then there's two instrumental songs..."Today Is a Good Day to Die" and "My Spirit Lives On" which are both terrible instrumental ones. "Today..." lasts almost 10 minutes...and MSLO has awful guitar riffs. This is the album that would have been the last good moment to end the carriere...but no, they released the album "Warriors of the World" which was even worse than this.

Stars: The Power, Courage, King

The Best ManOwaR album Ever

This album is by far one of the greatest metal albums ever! there is not one bad song on this album and every song kicks ass. "My spirit lives on" is the best solo ever and karl logan is the best guitarist in the world today I recomend this album to anyone who is not a betrayer of metal and who fights for all that is real and remember when you buy this album if you are a ManOwaR fan, you are a ManOwaR fan for life!

TRUE METAL!!!

first and formost, the review written by 'Thor' from NY, must be considered to be one of amazons most hilarious,(albeit for all the wrong reasons!) reviews i have ever read, as i write this review i still have a tear in my eye as i have not been able to stop laughing at the childish and musically immature comments made by this ignaramous.

1.ManowaR rule

2.ManowaR rule!

3.they still rule.

And as far as 'amaturish musicianship' goes, you should check out the so called 'metal' being produced today, fully grown men beating out ear searing vocals that i could match with a few choice farts, and the kind of guitar ability shown by a clumsy child.

This ladies and gentlemen is one Of MANOWARS best, and for that metals best, And as the reviewer thor pointed out the musicianship is supposedly 'amaturish!'

i laugh as i say this because the guitar solo called 'my spirit lives on' on this masterpiece is widely regarded as one of the most technically impressive solos on cd.

This album is brilliant every song a feat of excellence

and any who disagree should hold their judgements and go listen to 'louder than hell' again, and really listen, it is true Metal

LONG LIVE TRUE METAL!!!
