Description: You can dance and you probably will if you put on this 1987 compilation of the material girl's best jams. The eight-and-a-half minute "Into the Groove," remixed by Shep Pettibone, may be Madonna's single best tune and it's sure to fill the dance floor. There are only 10 tracks here, and a couple of songs get multiple remixes, but you do get "Holiday" and "Everybody," lesser known but not lesser grooves. Madonna had a few dance hits after this collection came out, and one day they'll most likely be a Madonna dance box set, but until then this will give you a fine aerobic workout.

Reviews:
For inspiration
This is a Madonna "remix" album that was released in 1987. It features one "new" song, "Spotlight", but it sounds like a leftover song from her first album. It's a minor, but enjoyable, song. The rest of the songs were all previously released. Somewhat interestingly, most of the songs here are lesser known Madonna songs, like "Physical Attraction" and "Over and Over", instead of well known hits. Unfortunately, the remixes aren't all that interesting. They are mostly just longer, more dance oriented, versions of the original songs. There are also three "dub versions" of songs from earlier on the CD. In this case, "dub version" means "version with most of the lyrics removed". All in all, this is a decent Madonna album, but not an essential one.
Good Solid Dance
This is a decent collection of remixes from Madonna's first two albums. There is one new song on here called Spotlight. It's not a bad song, but it doesn't sound like it was recorded specifically for this album. It sounds like a leftover track from her 1983 album that they decided to use on here. And for what it's worth, it sounds too much like Holiday to me. All the other remixes sound very solid, and keep an ear out for the remixes of Over and Over and Everybody (Madonna's first single). This usually turns up in cassette form in bargain bins, so pick it up if you find it.

I bought Madonna's two underrated albums on the same day -"Erotica" and "You Can Dance". I thought that "Erotica" was alot better and as a result, I didn't really play this CD that much. However, now I am addicted to this fantastic remix CD, which faetures mixes of Madonna's best, most loved and most popular hits of the 80s from her first 3 albums. "Spotlight" is a great track, released on no other. "Holiday" has an 12" mix plus a dub mix. The dub mix flows nicely, as the 12" mix was changed only slightly. "Everybody" has a 12" mix, which, again, is very good! "Physical Attraction", besides "Spotlight", is my favourite track on the whole disc aswell as the remix for: "Into The Groove" which is completely original and great! (Another favourite) There are also remixes for "Over And Over", from "Like A Virgin" and "Where's The Party", from "True Blue", also excellent. There are dub versions of "Into The Groove" and "Where's The Party", which are also brilliant! Another great Madonna album as she does me proud!
