Get Up, Dance and Sing...

Wow, this sounds so wired to say, but this is Madonna's first commerically released single. The song is quite good, to be Maddy's first. This song is actually one of my favs. The beat is really good and has a real club feel to it.



Track 1: is labeled instrumental version, but it is is not. This is a German misprint. Track one is actually the album edit.



Track 2: Another misprint. This is actually the dub version of "Everybody" but the cd says it is 9:28 seconds long, but is really 8:58. I am not too fond of Dubs, so this is not of my favs, but it is still okay.



The song itself, is wonderful, but the cd and labeling are poor, and needs to re-released correctly.

MADONNA'S FIRST SINGLE

Breaking out of the NYC underground in 1982, then-anonymous Detroit-born vocalist Madonna hit the American scene with this self-written tune about Dancing. With stylish New Wave-Disco beats provided by DJ Mark Kamins, and a raw vocal style that emotes her sexy lyrics, "Everybody" immediately established Madonna and began a new musical genre, while leading many radio listeners and club kids to assume the singer was black.

The single appeared on Billboard's Dance charts, promoted by a low-budget music video filmed at one of her old hangouts, the Danceteria nightclub. Those who choose to see Madonna as a self-image mongerer may be suprised to know her face is not even on the cover of this first single.

Madonna most recently performed "Everybody" on her 1993 Girlie Show tour.
