Description: As innovative and influential in their own way as their Southern rock precursors the Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd's career was just as star-crossed, perhaps more. Fate dealt them terrible blows in the form of the plane crash that killed singer Ronnie Van Zandt and guitarist Steve and his sister, singer Cassie Gaines; there were subsequent tragedies as well. This set features the biggest hits of the band's original incarnation, such as "Sweet Home Alabama," "Free Bird," "What's Your Name," and "Saturday Night Special," but also includes the potent album tracks "Gimme Three Steps," "You Got That Right," and "That Smell." Skynyrd is overrepresented by greatest-hits sets and live albums, though, and this collection is easily bested by the much deeper collections
The Essential Lynyrd Skynyrd and
All Time Greatest Hits. No matter how you package it, though, this is still powerful music.

Reviews:
And I Was Really Counting On The Millenium Collection
Usually you can count on the 20th Century Millennium Collection to really screw things up. The collections are horrible, and are always missing classic songs. As someone who has always hated Free Bird, I had my fingers crossed- hoping I'd finally be able to pick up some Skyn without that dreadful song, but noooo- There Free Bird is at the end. Way to go 20th Century Millennium Collection, you couldn't even mess this one up right!
Great Millennium CD
This CD by the Millennium is now better than ever! I bought All
Time Greatest Hits by Lynyrd Skynyrd because I thought I'd like
it, but didn't really like it, because it had Simple Man, and
other weak songs. This CD is way better. Greater songs even Free
Bird is on here. Sweet Home Alabama, What's Your Name, Gimme Three Steps, That Smell, and Freebird are my 5 favorite tracks
on this album Great CD.
One of the best Millennium Collection albums in the World
One of the best Millennium series in the world, this one puts the
top. This disc has all 10 tracks with 5 of my favorite songs. I
listen to this disc from 1 to 3, skip 4 tracks before 7, and skip
3 tracks before 10. That's where all my favorites are on this disc. Plus there's Free Bird, a song that most people like so much that I'm not interested in. The opening song starts with Sweet Home Alabama- 'my favorite song of all time on the album,
a great song to open this album'. And the closing song ends with
Free Bird- 'one most people like, great closing guitar riffs'.
From Sweet Home Alabama to What's Your Name to Gimme Three Steps
to That Smell and to Free Bird. That's the way I do it. Listen
to it.
