Reviews:

Kylie streaks light years ahead

This album takes Kylie back to her roots - pure pop - and infuses it with a strong blend of higly dancable, infectious backbeat. Sure it's high camp, but that makes for a pleasant change from the plain pop that her competition have been putting out there lately. This takes Kylie out of the darker, more personal albums like Kylie Minogue and Impossible Princess, and returns her to centre stage where she belongs. With a handfull of number-one singles, it's surprisingly not springled with a few good songs and a lot of filler like her earlier albums - everything on this one is good. Kylie has brought with her a host of top-name collaborators on this album to turn out what is probably the best pop album of the year.

Looks like a mouse and sings like one too

I don't understand what people see in manufactured 'stars'. Her music is written for her (anyone could have done the same job) and she is honestly not the best singer in the world by any stretch of the imagination. She looks like a mouse and her voice is as high pitched as one. The music on this album begins to sound the same and the same as all her other 'work'. Sorry, this doesn't do it for me and I'm not likely to become a Kylie convert if this is the garbage that I have to be subjected to.

It's Kylie's world, we just live in in.............

I bought this CD because I bought the DVD "Live in Sydney" and didn't know any of the songs and eventually got hooked on all of them. Sadly, I did not know much about Kylie since I last heard from her in the 4th grade when "Locomotion" came out. Man, I missed alot! It took me forever and a day to find this cd but, once I did, it's all I played. It's literally one of the best records ever. It's totally pop and dance and it's unapologetic! This is the best CD to buy if you want to get to know more about a star the rest of the world already knows about!

Let the Light Years begin . . .

. . . there is old pop, there is new pop . . . then there is Kylie Minogue!

This album is the quintessential Kylie Minogue record - it breaths new world in to the 'pop' arena.

With the first two releases off Lights Years - 'Spinning Around' and 'On A Night Like This' debuting at No. 1, it's no surprise that Lights Years also debuted at No. 1 on the album charts and at the time of writing this review has already gone double platinum.

Kylie Minogue's vision for this record was "sun, sand and cocktails" and with songs like 'Disco Down', 'Loveboat', 'Koocachoo' and 'Your Disco Needs You' Kylie is certainly on the mark. Surprising tracks include the anthemic club hit 'Butterfly' and the searing ballad 'Bittersweet Goodbye'; and the title track 'Light Years' is a brilliant pop song to close the album.

The third single to be released from Light Years, the Robbie Williams duet 'Kids' is already a top 3 hit in the UK and is climbing the charts in Australia.

Following 'Kids' is the latin themed 'Please Stay' which is released on the 11th December in the UK and Australia and promises to be another sure fire hit.

I urge anybody reading this review to purchase Light Years - it is one of the best albums to be released this millenium.

Kylie Minogue is a singersongwriter not to be denied.

Fantastic

Of course there are some tracks that aren't very good, but all the good ones are so good the others don't matter. The German edition has a bonus track "Your Disco Needs You (German Version)", which is like the original version, except instead of the French part, which is in German. Also features Password as ghost track after YDNY (German Version). Get it!
