Description: Fever was released on a wave of publicity as the lead single, "Can't Get You out of My Head," battled on the U.K. charts with the debut effort of Spice diva Victoria Beckham--and it won spectacularly. Kylie Minogue's sound has progressed again since the disco-inspired Light Years, plundering the retro style of post-disco electro from the late 1970s and showing what might have happened if Kraftwerk had produced Donna Summer or Chic. Unlike most pop albums, or indeed pop artists, Fever is geared toward high-energy dance rather than pedestrian "I love lovin' you" ballads. Aside from the aforementioned hit single, another standout is "Give It to Me," a great piece of dance pop that has everything from Britney-style wailings to Basement Jaxx funk wrapped up with a catchy and typically suggestive chorus. The closest Minogue gets to a gentler moment is at the very end with "Burning Up," a breezy guitar progression with a laid-back melody, but it doesn't last long as the need to start dancing again takes hold and Fever breaks into some electro funk, finishing on a definite high. --David Trueman

Reviews:

Can't get this out of my head

This is an awesome dance/pop album from Australian superstar Kylie Minogue. It combines great dance beats with her distinctive voice and slick pop production to make this one of the most addictive albums in recent memory.

The best known song is the quirky dance hit "Can't Get You Out of My Head", and it is one of the most aptly titled songs I can think of. I was very surprised that the rest of the album was great too, with other strong tracks including "More, More, More", the softer title track, the beautiful "Come Into My World", "Love at First Sight", "Fragile", and the closing blast "Burning Up".

The bonus disc is also of excellent quality, with several worthy, more dance-oriented remixes. My personal favorite is the combo of New Order's "Blue Monday" with "Can't Get You out of My Head", to give "Can't Get Blue Monday Out of My Head"... whoever came up with that combo is a genius. The alternative takes on "Come Into My World" and "Love at First Sight" are also highlights of the bonus disc, making the limited edition a definite improvement over the standard package.

"Fever" is a joy to both listen and dance to, and has really propelled Kylie's career on this side of the Atlantic. She's been a star for years in Europe and Australia, and hopefully the success of this disc will make her music much more accessible to North American audiences. This is a great album that'll be around for quite awhile, and with any luck it will encourage new fans to check out her worthy back catalogue as well.

She really is the princess of pop!

the bonus CD makes it totally fantasticly super cool!

I own this special edition of Fever and I'll tell you that it is so much better than the regular version. The bonus CD is super-duper amazing! includes Can't get blue monday out of my head, which is the song that Kylie performs on her Fever2002 DVD, which is also excellent.

The remixes included in the bonus CD are so cool, they're very long, but they're great, it's like another song, not a remix; they're really cool and the CD comes into a box, and under the box, that you see in the description, there is the real CD box and you have the picture of the regular version. If you haven't bought it, buy it now!, and if you have the regular version...buy it too!
