Reviews:

Kylie's second album

This was Kylie's second album, the follow-up from her 1988 album, 'Kylie,' her debut. I couldn't really say which I like more, as they are both excellent albums. Pop music doesn't get much better than Kylie's older hits!

This is another of Kylie's older offerings, still young and still had credibility! The 'hits' continued and the album's material were all safe to be single releases! This album doesn't include the hit with Jason Donavon, Especially For You, like the Amazon tracklisting says.

The first 3 songs from yet another just-fun pop music 10-track album with excellent songs and upbeat tunes were singles. You should find your parents singing along...again! Hand On Your Heart, Wouldn't Change A Thing and Never Too Late were all top 5 hits and had great video's to back them up. (Please note the videos are not on the CD!)

Hand On Your Heart debuted in the Charts at #2, however the following week moved up 1 place to #1! Wouldn't Change A Thing was another #2 hit from Kylie and Never Too Late debuted at #17 (!) the first week on the UK Charts, due to the delay of the 12" release of the single. However, like all us pop fans loved Kylie, the following week it moved up an amazing 13 places to #4! THANK YOU!

The fourth track, Nothing To Lose is all about having your partner all to yourself! It's another great pop track as is the next song from the album. It's short and a ballad: Tell Tale Signs. Nevertheless, it's an excellent song and I love the outro! Kylie sounds beautiful! My Secret Heart is another short but amazing track. It's about loving someone but they are far away or apart so she is left alone with her Secret Heart! Genius! The seventh track is my favourite album track on the album. I'm Over Dreaming (Over You) is such as fun pop song! Need I say more?!

The next 2 tracks are more mature than other songs from the album. Tears On My Pillow was a song from one of Kylie's sound tracks and it went straight to #1 on the Charts! Heaven And Earth is a great song but probably the weakest on the album for me. Enjoy Yourself is the last track and the title track of the album. It's a really great track all about partying and picking up your dreams before it's too late! Well done!

This album, again, like her first went to #1 on the UK Charts and spent 33 weeks on the Top 100 UK Albums Chart!

Never Too Late to Like This Album

Kylie's second album is like "Kylie"...a very happy album..and pure pop music!!! The songs "Hand on Your Heart", "Wouldn't Change a Thing", "Nothing to Lose", "Never Too Late" and the ballad "Tears on My Pillow" are very good and most of them were in top 5 in UK. Four singles, four hits...if only "Nothing to Lose" would have been released too...it's such a good song. Kylie sings beautifully...and is also very beautiful. This album is still quite basic pop and Kylie started her great style in "Impossible Princess".

Stars: Tears on My Pillow, Hand on Your Heart, Never Too Late

Second album maintains style of debut

In 1980's Britain, the most successful pop record producers were the team of Stock, Aitken and Waterman. Many of their singers faded from popularity as quickly as they emerged, leaving a legacy of doubtful importance. A few did rise above the rest but the star that shone the brightest was Kylie.

This album was produced entirely by Stock, Aitken and Waterman, who wrote all the songs except for Tears on my pillow (the Little Anthony fifties classic). This cover helped to convince me that Kylie should be taken seriously - it is brilliant. I've heard several versions including Reba McEntire's. Kylie should be proud of her cover, which went all the way to number one in Britain, even though I slightly prefer Reba's. Hand on your heart (number one), Wouldn't change a thing (number two) and Never too late (number four) were the other UK hits from this album.

While many will continue to dismiss Kylie (especially these early albums), she is much better than many of the singers she is sometimes compared to, and has proved it by lasting longer than any of her critics thought possible.

Note that this CD is also available via the boxed set - Kylie Minogue x3. It's only three individual CD's wrapped in a cardboard slipcase but it's much cheaper than buying the three separately.
