A Good Sophomore Effort
Before Korn became way too damn popular in 1999, this CD was released. This tends to tear away from the brutal feel from their self-titled and brings more of a Red Hot Chili Peppers feel. "A.D.I.D.A.S." is really raunchy, but the guitar work is just brilliant. "No Place To Hide" kicks ass, as well as "Chi" and some other songs I can't think of titles of. The version of "Lowrider" is a crackup, enough said. This album is not sold out. This is why it is another good album from Korn.
Heavier Korn, with their orginal "what the hell?" factor
This album still has the gibberish vocals, shouting parts, and weird rap/sung vocals that made Korn's debut so amazing. I'll say it once, this album is not as good, by a very long way, as their first, but it's worth getting. Truth be told, their debut is the best album they've done. I think that this album has less standout tracks than most of the others, but is much more consistent and plays better as a whole.
Twist: I dunno what the hell this was about, mabye Jonathan was being throttled or something, but I love it to bits.
10/10
Chi: Some quite good vocals here and there, particularly near the end.
9/10
Lost: A decent track, but you won't be showing it to your friends.
8/10
Swallow: Insane bass on this, try it on a good sound system and you'll see what I mean.
9/10
Porno Creep: What is this? Weirdness with Davis talking about pleasure.
6/10
Good God: A nice little cool track that grows on you.
8/10
Mr Rogers: Brilliant. The beginning is the best, with the massively distorted gutairs and the vocals that really show off Davis' voice. You just try and hate it.
10/10
K@#0%#: Wow, there's not much swearing in this one. It's OK but it's really just a big joke.
7/0
No Place to Hide: A great track, I love the bit near the end with the really fast gutairs.
10/10
Wicked: Rapping. Just go away.
2/10
A.D.I.D.A.S.: The track for which the letters of the title stand for the chorus. Possibly the worst lyrics ever, but the song itself seems to flow better than I've ever heard.
10/10
Lowrider: Not another one of these. Someone just cough "filler" please.
3/10
Ass Itch: Average really, you probably will itch your ass when you hear this cos it really isn't anything special.
5/10
Kill You: Quite good, but often gets overlooked cos it's at the end.
7/10
Overall, Korn's second or third best album. And one that will appeal to people who aren't even in to music this light, like me. Even if you prefer your music heavy, you'll find something in this anyway.
Not as good as their first...
I bought "Life is Peachy" the day it came out, and I must admit I was a little disappointed. I'm not saying it's not a great disc, because it is...it just doesn't touch their self-titled debut. As stupid as it sounds (this being Korn and all), this album was a little too muddy for my tastes (which is why I only gave it a 4 out of 5). If they'd have spent a little more time on post-production, it would have been a 5 out of 5.
However, this IS a must have for a Korn fan. There are a few weak tracks ("Swallow" and "K@#*%!" come to mind), but tracks like "Good God", "Mr. Rogers", and "No Place to Hide" more than make up for it. Head's rendition of "Low Rider" is classic, and I'm sure EVERYBODY has heard "A.D.I.D.A.S." by now (we tried to get that track played at our senior prom, but the fascist teachers wouldn't let us). If you're a true KoRn fan chances are you probably already own this album, if not, well...you know what to do.
