Description: This is exactly what Tipper Gore feared. Expose your bored daughters to the toxic combination of heavy-metal death fantasies, punk-rock nihilism, violent rap misogyny, and fuck-me feminism, and Kittie is what you get. This band belies the notion that the only rock from Canada is either by hollow-voiced sirens or is over-intellectualized prog-rock. The fact that all of the band's members are still in high school is almost incidental, as Spit contains a maturity and insight, not to mention a musicianship, not usually ascribed to the under-21 set. Consider the lyrics to "Paperdoll," which addresses stereotypical images of women: "They try her on for size / She fits nice / One size fits all...." All four members are strong musicians, but special notice must be paid to lead singer Morgan Lander, who whispers kitten-soft one second and lets loose an ear-shattering howl the next. Kittie's aggressive, full-bore music, in the grand tradition of Babes in Toyland and L7, pulls no punches and makes no compromise. --Genevieve Williams

Reviews:

angry estrogen translates into a pretty good cd

from the cover, the girls in kittie look like they could gnash their teeth into you and rip you apart.from the "brackish" video, this becomes a reality, as it shows a shark tearing things to bloody pieces, and incorporates everything the band is about-violent riffs and vocals with no mercy for anyone."spit","suck",and "raven" are probably the three heaviest cuts on the cd, but they are all grinding tracks."brackish" is the catchy and speedy single, while "paperdoll" is the mellowed out and somber track."charlotte" was a good choice for a second single, as it is tasteful enough for radio without sacrificing everything the girls strive for."immortal" is a weird, and trancy type track, while "do you think im a *****" has a catchy first line of the chours, which states the song title.the only few drawbacks of this cd are the somewhat muddy production and the sometimes piercing and aggravating vocals of morgan lander.other than that, the songs are straight, quick, and to the point, they explode with fury, and prove that not just men can rock loud and hard.

At Least It Isn't Evanescence, The Biggest Poser Band Ever

Kittie, in my opinion, is a very underrated band that proves that not only men can play good music. However, this is definitely not their best album. This tends to fit in more with the rap-metal scene of 2000. Fortunately, this is a billion times than any Limp Bizkit album OR Linkin Park album. Unfortunately, this album is just another "fit-in-the-scene" album. It's not horrible, that's why it gets 3 stars. "Brackish" is OK, and "Charlotte" is possibly the best song on there. "Paperdoll" sucks. "Spit" is good, but "Suck" needs to lay off the F-bomb.

However, this isn't that cheesy Wal-Mart trash by Evanescence.

Meow gone mad

Maybe the reason for the band name is that the band had their cats play all of the instruments and randomly scratch shapes into the litterbox that they could convert into lyrics. Not to mention, they got their cats to fight for the vocals.

Hey... it's possible... don't believe me? Buy this CD.
