20 solid gold classics on one album!

This is a great compaltion album, that features 20 classic hit titles by Country legend, Kenny Rogers during his day's with The First Edition. Features their first recording "Ticket to nowhere" and their debut chart entry "Just dropped in (too see what condition my condition was in)". Every track on this album is a sure fire winner and shows diffrent band members take the lead on tracks. Of course the best numbers are the one's Rogers takes lead on ("Reuben james", "Ruby", "She even woke me up to say goodbye", etc, etc), but Mike Settle's "Church without a name" (the closing track on the album) and Mary Arnold's "After all" give them a close run for his money. Also included is vocals by Terry Williams, Thelma Camacho and Kin Vassy. Glen Campbell plays guitair on "Just dropped in". A lot of the tracks were produced by Jim Bowen and Mike Post.
This compalation covers Kenny Rogers carrer from 1967 to 1971, just before the "Ballad of Calico" album. The first edition disbanded in 1976 and Rogers solo carrer continued to bring many more hit's and today Rogers is still very popular, having cut around 70 albums in total. This is a good introduction.
