Reviews:

John's Last Interview

Recorded the morning before he was murdered, "The Last Word" is an intriguing listen. John talks extensively about the making of "Double Fantasy" as well as his time with the Beatles and subsequent solo career. Much of this material was lifted for use in the "Imagine" documentary and the Beatles "Anthology".

Sad, Haunting, and Glorious

Sadly, this is John's last interview. It is haunting because hours later John would meet his untimely death at the hands of a lunatic "whose name should never be mentioned again."

Yet, this interview gives us a sense that everything is all right. John openly discusses his life with the Beatles, his work on "Double Fantasy," and Yoko Ono. Perhaps -- at least, I like to think -- that John Lennon is letting all of us know that life continues and we have to carry on. For this reason, this interview CD gives us peace of mind.

Indeed, we all miss John Lennon. But, as long as we have his music and words, he'll live on forever in our hearts and minds. This CD is not morbid. It is glorious!

The Morbid can buy this

Sadly, hours before John Lennon was murdered, he did an interview. This is a recording of his last day. It is a very good interview and covers many subjects... but releasing it in this form for a profit, or buying it to hear John's last recorded words is rather sickening to me. I suppose that if there was a recording out there of his actual murder or film footage from the hospital as the doctors tried desperately to save him, there would be scumbags out there who would sell it and people who would buy it. I listened to "The Last Word" because the library considered it a documentary work and added it to their audio recordings. I checked it out but I don't think I'd ever be strange enough to buy or dub it.
