Reviews:

Joe's the same.

I have decided you are either a Crocker fan or you're not. I can listen to him forever. I liked this album better than some of the others I have. The songs were just right for his voice.

Unbelieveable

This is embarrassing. Please stop making music Joe. You can't do your own material well so don't try to ruin other people's material as well. The fact that you enlisted Clapton on guitar makes it clear that you hate music. Thank you,

The American Public

Well, it's Joe again...Yawn...

Thing is, anyone who listens to Cocker's voice for the first time will more than likely be intimidated by his high octane "white soul" delivery. Question is how long does the trick keep up? How long can you simply be satisfied merely by his voice?

Cocker has been employing the same tactic for quite some years now. Do a few covers, pen in a couple of usually forgettable songs and voila, there ya have it. This time around he thinks "hey, why not go the whole 9 yards and do a whole album of covers"? Which is exactly what he proceeded to do.

Most of the songs he chose are given a rather unremarkable makeover even though Joe's voice at the tender age of 60 continues to be noticeable. Classic case of a good try that gets no cigar. I wont go the length of actually mentioning which tunes he's covering here even if some of his choices are actually intriguing because the point remains that this a bland, boring and driveless affair.

Still, and possibly quite surprisingly Cocker continues to actually muster good sales and have a dedicated fan base. But hey, i never claimed i understood everything going on in the music world or in this world in general.
