Description: As emblematic of its time as of its sorcerer-like creator, 1967's
Are You Experienced unleashed Jimi Hendrix onto a world in the midst of such cultural and musical shakeups that it really didn't seem as "far out" as it actually was. It wasn't just Hendrix's virtuosic skill as a pure player that was so impressive; it was, even more, the range and scope of sheer sound that he coaxed, cajoled, and ripped out of his instrument. "Purple Haze," "Manic Depression," and "I Don't Live Today" filled ears with indelible sonic images, and songs like "Foxey Lady" and "Fire" pointed the way toward a new brand of rock-charged soul music. And how about a hand for drummer Mitch Mitchell?

Reviews:
Could this be one of the greatest albums ever?
Why yes...yes it can be. Now of course if you dont know, Jimmy Hendrix is a god to all guitarist or most of them..what he could do with that guitar still baffels me when I sit down and listen to these songs. 'cept I had to dust of the ol records until I picked this puppy up yesterday so I can enjoy these great songs in my car..YOU cannot pass this up. This is pure greatness.
Jimi Hendrix- Best guitarist ever
What can I say. Everyone knows Jimi Hendrix. This is his best album and he played back in the 60's better then anyone does now maybe even forever. I wasn't even born during his 27 years of life and hes been dead longer then he has been alive. His guitar skills are incredible though. If he wasn't playing it behind his back, with his teeth, or lighting it on fire, he was playing incredible stuff. THis is one of the best albums ever, and any fan of rock will enjoy this. I use to like newer modern music but grown out of it becasue it was boring and had no really hard skill being used for it. When I started to take guitar lessons I learned some modern stuff but got bored of it right away. I turned to Jimi Hendrix who I never heard before and was amazed. I also listend to Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and The Doors. Al l there stuff was incredible and I enjoyed it very much. In almost every song on this cd is filled with guitar solos that will blow your mind. THere incredible to listen to and even learn.

The Greatest Guitarist Of All Time.
Is it really nescessary for a debate on the graeatest guitarist of all time? No. Hendrix changed guitar playing forever. He is a influential icon for guitarists and other musicians (myself, a drummer) and African-Americans everywhere. Being a black man myself I only have a couple of black idols, Hendrix being one of them Martin Luther King, and Bob Marley. Because of my love of rock 'n' roll and hatred of hip-hip or hip or hip-hop or whatever the hell it's called and rap *clenches fists*, there wasn't any black people in rock 'n' roll. Then Hendrix came along with "Are You Experienced" and it changed everything. Long live Hendrix.
