Reviews:

is good

so, this cd opens with a nice, melodic, song that reminds me of a PJ Harvey ballad. It then goes on to flow through tracks that range from the Plaid/Squarepusher style to songs reminiscent of...maybe old NIN? Anyway, this album has a song that has words from Brave New World put to music (Ford) sheck dis out! Its wonderful. I think : lovechild of PJ, Bjork, K+D, mmmmm lots of lovely people.

Phantastic

I don't really remember how I discovered Tarwater. They are from Berlin, Germany, but they don't sound as if they were from Germany. Well, at least they don't sound like the stuff people are supposed to hear from Germany. "Silur" is perfect music. There's nothing else to be said about it. It's the most atmospheric music I can imagine.

Spacious and mind-grabbing.

For those who have deplored the regular lack of musical substance in so many dance and ambient releases, Tarwater come as a very welcome relief. Although many of their phrases are very repetitive (especially the dubby basslines), their attention to detail and superb thematic development have a special appeal. The regular appearance of spoken monologues, taken from obscure literature and magazine articles, add a documentary feel to the music and an anthropological edge that doesn't reek of World Music.
