Description: Actress Jennifer Lopez's debut album fails in its attempt to provide a worthy musical backdrop to her much-discussed diva-esque image. Over the course of 13 songs,
On the 6 displays barely a glimmer of the verve, poise, and sensuality of her screen performances in the likes of
Out of Sight. With little vocal talent to rely on, Lopez generally seems content to ape Madonna's middle register like any happy radio listener. Similarly, several of the tracks here seem too rooted in the Latin-lite clichés of "La Isla Bonita." With practice--more Lopez CDs will surely follow in the wake of
6's success--the star might develop into a singer worth reckoning with, but for now she stands as a wonderful actress and a musical artist with an unengaging album to her name.

Reviews:
I could NOT believe my ears!
1999 was definitely the best year for music. In that year, we saw the debut albums from Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Jennifer Lopez, a Latina from the Bronx who worked her way to the top from her days as a struggling dancer on the TV show "In Living Color." This is her amazing 1999 debut album with hits like "If You Had My Love" and "Waiting for Tonight." At the time, Ms. Lopez was dating P.Diddy before they split on friendly and amicable terms. Jennifer Lopez is one classy lady, which is a rare thing in this pop climate!
All Around Great Album
before I critique her songs, I'd like to say that J.Lo did a fabulous job with the Cd booklet, but it was misleading. If it was named after a train that you rode when you were younger, why wouldn't that be the main highlight of the pictures, not you prancing around in some thong, on the beach, or rolling around in a bed. She just stuck a picture of the 6 train on the Cd and called it a day. The album starts off great with "If You Had My Love," but then it messes up as it tranfers to the next song, it's a ballad. When making this album J.Lo should have stuck the up-tempo songs in the beginning and soft songs, the ballads, down at the end, because they weren't all that great anyway. Her voice doesn't go very far, but it's not bad to listen to, because the beats in the background do a little somehting to make her voice sound better. I'd recommend anyone to buy this album because, it's great, and even though people tell you that her voice stinks on this album, it doesn''t sound bad at all.
Great album!
On this album, Jennifer is wonderful. I love the beats, and her voice sounds great. Good debut album:).
