Description: Jars of Clay are well established as one of Christian music's pre-eminent bands. In less than a decade, Jars have racked up numerous awards and sold millions of CDs, and prompted musicians of all stripes to marvel at the group's magical guitar interplay. But can they pull it off live?
Furthermore answers that question with a riveting live-performance disc curiously paired with a less-than-riveting studio disc. From the powerful opening riffs by Stephen Mason and Matt Odmark in "Disappear" to Dan Haseltine's dramatic vocal in "Worlds Apart," the players prove that their master musicianship carries over to the live setting. The band even rocks out hard in the raveups "I'm Alright" and "Revolution." The studio disc is highlighted by the beautiful "Valley Song (Sing of Your Mercy)" and the poignant "Needful Hands." Unfortunately, the rest of the studio set is filled with rather uninspiring versions of previous Jars hits.

Reviews:
A great acoustic disc!
Jars of Clay breathes a lot of new life into their songs on this disc -- a GREAT listen!
It should be noted, however, that the exquisite song Dig, which many have complimented here, is NOT their creation. It was written by the late Gene Eugene, and recorded by his band Adam Again on their album "Dig". Adam Again was one of the greatest bands Christian music has known, and though their material is now out-of-print, it's worth searching for. Kudos to Jars for including this song as a tribute to Gene.
an unbelievable addition by an unbelievable band
Okay... jars of clay has taken the Christian pop/rock to a whole new level. They put Christian rock on the charts back in the 90's, and they just continue to make absolutely beautiful music. Even when I wasn't Christian, I thought these guys were fantastic. They know how to write and arrange music, and their lyrics can not even be explained by words. Just when you thought they couldn't get any better, they come out with Furthermore. A lot of my Christian friends do not like this CD because it is not "jars of clay." Okay, we are talking about a band that has added a little bit of spice to their music in EVERY one of their albums. Much Afraid did not do well on the charts as the debut CD, because they decided to test out some new stuff. And the sad thing is, Much Afraid is a great CD... personally one of my favorites. But with Furthermore, you get to hear such a wide spectrum of the band. The way they jazz up some old songs, and the way they take rocking songs and turn them acoustic. Some people don't agree with me, but some of these remakes I think are better than the originals. In exception with Frail, which is one of their most powerfully written songs to date. The music and lyrics will leave you speechless.
The new songs on the Studio CD are phenominal! Sing of Your Mercy did great on Christian radio, and it is a great song to worship to. But Dig and Redemption are two of their own. These songs probably won't hit you very hard at first, but the lyrics used in these songs are so Godly and comforting, I cannot even think of a comparison that would do it justice. Once again, jars of clay just continues to write absolute poetry.
Then you get to the Stage CD of Furthermore. This just gives you a PERFECT idea of what jars of clay is like live. They are fun, witty, powerful, and right-on with the music and vocals. Great live versions of many great songs. The topper is the live closer, Worlds Apart. This 5 minute song from their self-debut CD goes on for 10 minutes live. The crowd joins in on Alleluias at the end, and the echos will bring chills throughout your entire body. I guess what I am trying to say here is buy this CD. If you don't have any jars of clay CDs and are looking for something to start off with, this is the one. I have 5 different friends that bought this one first, and ended up buying ALL of their albums. jars of clay will do that, though. hehe. Much love and God bless!!
Love in Christ,

Jars of Clay helps me find that peace.
