Description: Iron Maiden are nothing if not consistent. Since 1980's self-titled debut, they've been one of metal's preeminent torchbearers, spewing forth dramatic old-school, Euro-flavored arena-style metal, that to a non-fan might seem akin to Spinal Tap. The band's legion of followers, however, will rejoice at the 67 minutes of archetypal Maiden found on
Brave New World. The album reunites their classic-period singer Bruce Dickinson with his longtime band following his self-imposed six-year absence. Also back on board is guitarist Adrian Smith, giving Maiden a scorching three-guitar lineup. Maiden's lyrical scope is as historic and elaborate as ever, their muscular musicality verging on the melodramatic. But that's what Maiden have always been about, and their sound is instantly recognizable on such meaty cuts as "The Mercenary," "The Fallen Angel," and "Ghost of the Navigator."
Brave New World's signature time changes, guitar harmonies, and urgent vocals render moot any question as to whether it will spawn Maiden classics to rival the likes of "Run to the Hills" and "Number of the Beast." Bruce is back, and all's right on this
Brave New World.

Reviews:
Great comeback album
I definitely like this album, doesn't feel as repetitive as some of their earlier works. It's better than Fear of the Dark and X-Factor, though I like both of those, too.
Maiden is back even though they never left!
I, unlike a few reviewers on this site, loved Maiden throughout the 2 Bayley albums. In my opinion, as long as they have Steve Harris and Dave Murray in the band, they are maiden...anyway on the with the review...
Bruce Dickinson reunites with the band in Brave New World and folks what we have here is a reunion album like no other. While other bands may reunite for financial/fame reasons, Maiden's BNW album sounds just like any of their great stuff from the 80's. They're sound is not changed and comprimised like other bands today that reunite. This album is kick a$$ from start to finish. Key cuts include: Blood Brothers, The mercenary, the nomad.
If your a new or aged Maiden fan, don't miss this one!
The Legends Live On
"Brave New World" by Iron Maiden is probably the best comeback album of all time. After Blaze left the band, he was replaced by the retuning almighty Bruce Dickinson! Former Maiden guitarist(Killers-Seventh Son of a Seventh Son) was also added back onto the mix, and they were ready to rock out again!
"The Wickerman" starts off this album with a bang. Out of all of the songs on the album there was no better song that could open an album than this song. Awesome song, very powerful. You gotta love the chorus. In my opinion it isn't up there with "Prowler", "Aces High", "Caught Somewhere in Time", or "Moonchild", as a Maiden opener, but all of those songs are classics.
Then comes the "Ghost of the Navigator" and it's one of my favoriute songs on the album. Great inrto, I've always loved it. It has some great lyrics too-"Take my Heart and set it free. Carried onwrd towards the waves". Great song.
Then comes the title track "Brave New World". This is another one of my favorite songs on the album. It's actually very emotional. "Dying Swans, Twisted Wings. Beauty not needed here." I love that line. I especially love the way Bruce sings it. Great song, one of my favorites.
Then there is another highlight of the album "Blood Brothers". It has some more great lyrics and more great singing from Bruce. "When you think that we've used all our chances. And the chance to make everything right, Keep on making the same old mistakes." Those lines plus what comes after it is really great, in my opinion. Another awesome song here.
Then we hit a speed bump. "The Mercenary" is next and it is fun for about a minute. Then it becomes old...and old fast. Not the best song on here, so I'll move onto the next one.
"Dream of Mirrors" makes up for what "The Mercenary" wasn't. It has great guitar lines all throughout the song. It may seem repetitive at some points, but it's still a great song.
Then comes "The Fallen Angel". It's a bit annoying, not a favorite of mine. It isn't very memorable at all, but it has some good parts, so we'll move on to....
"The Nomad". Awesome song here, another one of my favorites from the album. It's got some cool lyrics, and some awesome singing from Bruce. But, my favorite part of the song is that long awesome interlude. It's just pure greatness.
Then comes "Out of the Silent Planet". I was never a fan of this song, and I can't say that I listen to it a lot, so we'll move onto the final song on the album...
"The Thin Line Between Love and Hate. This song is SEVERELY underrated. This used to be one of my favorite Maidne songs. It isn't anymore, but I still acknowledge it's awesomeness. Bruce has his best vocal performance from this album on this song, in my opinion. Great song, listen to it.
Favorite 5 songs:
Ghost of the Navigator
Brave New World
Blood Brothers
The Nomad
The Thin Line Between Love and Hate
"Brave New World" is a great album. I like what Iron Maidne did here. They didn't try to remake "Powerslave". They went in a completely different direction and it was a success.
