Reviews:

Powerful sound on a debut album

Self-entitled debut album for Irene Grandi, a 31 years old girl from Florence, Italy. She started her career in 1993, with "Un motivo maledetto" (A damned melody) performed life at the San Remo festival, in the newcomer section. A year later, she is back in San Remo with "Fuori". Critics and public welcome her warmly enough to convince her record company to release a whole album. Since then, she became one of the most respected singer in Italian pop-rock scene.

Two major names worked on this album: Jovanotti (one of the most famous Euro-rapper) and Eros Ramazzotti (a living myth). The first wrote the song T.V.B (acronym for "Ti Voglio Bene", that is "I Love You"), the latter co-wrote "Sposati! Subito!" (Get married! Now!). Nine good tracks that go from pop to soft rock to (almost) rap, and one forgettable cover: "A natural woman". Some of the lyrics are very funny and inspired (like in "La cucina", The Kitchen), and in general the tone of the album is powerful and happy. It makes a good disc to wake up in the morning.

More nostalgic, the final track "Cose da Grandi" (Things for adults) plays with the double meaning of Irene's last name and offers to her listeners her greatest love song ever. If you liked her best selling album "In vacanza da una vita" (A holiday off from life, 1995) you will surely like this album. For new listeners, I would suggest to buy first "In vacanza da una vita", which is a little more commercial and with a more solid production.
