Reviews:

one of the best 80's albums

Few albums stand out from my teenage years like this classic album by INXS. The song 'Original Sin' is so stark and original sounding, followed by everyone's favorite 'Melting in the Sun' with the cool bass line and darker edges. This was at a time when the band was still largely underground in the US, and so it felt more like your own personal band - something few people knew of, but those who did were huge fans. The album's production sounds like it was all recorded in a huge, dark theater. But the songs are brilliant, and Michael Hutchence's voice is unparalleled.

THE BEST SOUNDING INXS ALBUM BY FAR

You really gotta check out the production in this one.My favourite INXS album was of course KICK until one fine day i heard this one and was blown away.People might think it sounds dated and too 80s today but i really can't think of a lot of albums back then or even now that sound so crystal clear and have so many killer tunes in them. The tracklisting is like a greatest hits.

They don't make 'em like this anymore!

I only just recently got this album on CD having had it on cassette for years. I admit that I hadn't listened to it for a good few years so it was nice to finally rediscover it.

The thing that surprised me most was how undated it sounds. Like someone said in another review it sounds like it could have been recorded yesterday. Of course the main factor is the music itself. This album is chock full of catchy edgy rock songs. Every track could have been a single. I love the production on songs such as 'Melting In The Sun' with it's wonderful hooky keyboard sound. The bass driven groove of 'Love Is (What I Say)' is another highlight. 'Original Sin' is a classic and 'All The Voices' is a haunting album closer. Breathtaking stuff and paving the way for the success of 'Listen like Thieves' and 'Kick' to come. Buy this one! :)
