Reviews:

Why are you wasting your time?

Am I the only one that thinks writing a review for a single is a big waste of time? I mean, if you bought the single it's becuase you like the song. No one ever buys a single because they think "I wonder what this band is all about. I think I will buy their single and find out." No way, It doesn't happen that way. Maybe for a whole album but not a single. You buy a single because you are afraid to gamble on the whole album yet you like that one song (no pun intended) or you are a fanatic of the band and must consume every product that they produce. Either way you are gonna give the single a positive review.

Oh, and by the way, "One" is a great song; buy the single.

get the meaning right people!

Im a bit concerned that reviewers on here are still calling this song one of U2's best "Love" songs....this is not a love song. First, it was the song that kept the band together at a time that their fights were driving them apart - so the words can relate to that. Secondly - it was a political song about the fall of the Berlin wall and EAst and West germans having to "come together" and become "one". thirdly, one of the three videos for this song has buffalo going off a cliff - this is a connection to AIDS - with the artist of this having died from it - and there is a myth that the song is a conversation between a gay son and his father (the father in the video actually played by bono's father).(this version was for the AIDS charity)

So although people may love this "love song" - those people obviously still dont "get" the fact that U2's lyrics have a deeper meaning and havnt really listened to the words properly.

Sorry! rant but i want to make sure that people realise the pure genius of this song. And dont get me wrong - I love love love this song and it is my favourite - perhaps that is why i get a bee in my bonnet when people mis-interpret!

thanks!

Awesome song!

This is in my opinion, one of U2's greatest love songs they've ever done.

It's so hard to believe that this song is actually over 12 years old because it shows none of it's age even in 2004. This is a really deep, creative, and angst-ridden rock song with Bono's incredible vocals and amazing lyrics.

The album "Achtung Baby" is a must-have because it's the most innovative rock album of the 1990s and should be bought but this single is worth getting too just for the B-Sides which unforuntately weren't on the 1990-2000 collection due to the labels bumbling management of it's conception.

This is one of U2's greatest songs of the 1990s and still is popular today and that's saying a lot!
