On their latest ('00) record, "Big Tings", Circle surprises with new crossover material, this time adding rap, soul, hip hop and r&b to the one drop and reggae riddim. The sound is modern and international, but Inner Circle still dedicates songs to Jah (the excellent "Come Back Jah Jah" with Anthony B. and "Jah Jah is Callin'") and Jamaica ("Sweet Jamaica"), never loosing their touch with the pure reggae sound.
Circle joins with Feliciano for the 3rd time on "One God, One Aim" with an unifying message, rages against violence in the superb "Blood A Run" and talks well about love with G. Washington in "Rain From Da Skies", "Big Tings A Gwaan" and "Love This Time".
Even though the sound of IC isn't concidered as reggae by some, Bob Marley's Songs of Freedom and Big Tings lie side by side in my cd-shelf. After all, reggae is an evolving music style with no boudries. Nuff respect for Circle's efforts.
Just buy it ! and you will feel the same.
