Nearly perfect

Iva Davies darkest album, which was recorded all in 1 take only! "Don't Believe Anymore" maybe Icehouse best, even if it is quite sad. All the songs work here, from the clever acoustic/keyboard "Dusty Pages" to the dance hall "Shotdown". Non singles such as the "Title Track" & "The Mountain" should not be taken lightly, as each tells an important messege in the pains of life. Icehouse never sounded better then this release. Note: "Dance On" & "Java" are Not included on this release, but would be later in late 2002 (FINALLY!)

Ooh la la hi ya!!

Pity this is out of stock now, but at any rate, this Icehouse classic is like Darling Shampoo, it's so beautiful! BTW, for remix enthuasists, Shot Down was later remixed for Full Circle as MLK (with the politico voices dubbed in), and Kiliminjaro (the slower, but more true to the original version and good use of analog synth bass and sax sounds, even to the part where Iva sings, "Shot down, shot down, shot doooown"...) Even if you're 'coast to coast', get it down and look wild with this Icehouse classic!!

PS. Shampoo no know what the song "Shot Down" is all about, but maybe you can help me, okay? Good.

Underrated 80's CD - A Must Have

Anyone contemplating an Icehouse cd should consider "Sidewalk". Iva Davies scores with a number of cuts including "This Time", "Someone Like You", "Stay Close Tonight", "Dusty Pages", "On My Mind" and "Don't Believe Anymore". Iva's strong vocals(reminiscent of Bryan Ferry) carry these tunes with depth and truly have a lingering effect on you. It's too bad this band isn't around anymore - would love to hear what they would come up with today!
